Sweat!

This is gross so I do apologise.

I go to the gym 3/4 x a week. I do two of my sessions in the morning on my wfh days before work. But it is quite rushed - I do this because there is less people!
I do a mixture of cardio and weight training - but mostly weight / resistance training.

I understand you go to the gym to work your body hard and sweat. But I think I have a problem. I seem to sweat profusely from my head - I am not overweight, I’m 5 ft 6 and 69kg, and I am 27.

I have tried more rest time between sets, but I still sweat! It gets to the point it gets in my eyes and stings. Does anyone have any recommendations for antiperspirant for your head - is there such a thing? I hear that Botox helps but I don’t think you can get Botox on your scalp!

Help it’s making me not want to go to the gym because I get so anxious about it!

Get a good old fashioned sweatband for your head?

dementedpixie · 12/07/2023 20:44

A head sweat band?
Or a wrist band to wipe your head with?
Do you take a sweat towel?

Kipdfgy · 12/07/2023 20:46

I honestly don’t think I could wear a sweat band on my head but the sweat bands for wrists sound good!!

Put a streak of vaseline above your eyes, the sweat will then run down the side of your face and not into your eyes. No-one can see it and it’s simple and effective. I do this for running in the heat or rain.

I sweat like this - I have thick long hair and tie it back but I sweat a lot on my face. To the extent that I wipe down after each set (I lift heavy). I carry a hand towel at every gym session. I have a stack of cheapo ones from Poundland - very absorbent and better than denser more expensive ones.

I do a lot of body pump/ step/ combat and I say this in a very boastful way, I’m lifting the heaviest weights in every class (amongst the women and most guys).
I also sweat the most embarrassing amount. Huge drops from the first track, I have to wipe the floor.
It almost stops me from going it’s so cringe.

I like the summer when other people also get hot quickly, I feel even more sweaty in the winter when no one else has a puddle on the floor.

so I have no answer, I take a towel.
but have some faith that you can’t me more sweaty than me.

You and me both, @Ivegotsunshineinabag - I lift amongst the most heavy in my circuits class - at least as heavy as the weaker men ... We do 5 stations for a minute each, then a break, then the next 5 stations etc etc. In winter I start sweating on the second set - in the summer, it's after the warm up. I just mop up with a towel. But I don't mind the sweat - I know I'm working hard enough.
