Why am I thinner now?

I'm only 5'1, and all my 20s and early 30s I was 56-58 kilos. Always loved running, wanted to lose a few kilos, but never really could. Had a baby 2.5 years ago, put on 13 kilos for that, breasted for 2 years. First year of giving birth I slowly got back to my pre pregnancy weight. Now, I'm 50 kg. Had a stressful time going back to work when my daughter was 10 months, and that stress lasted about 4-5 months. I lost quite a bit of weight then but it hasn't gone back on. I eat the same as before, if not more, and I exercise less than before having my daughter. What's going on?

It could just be that you lost weight during the stressful period and since then you have eaten enough to maintain your weight, but not gain back.

If you continue to lose weight however then it would be a good idea to look at what might be causing it.

Do you have any other symptoms? Feel tired (obv you have a small child so probably!!) or anxious? Or any physical symptoms?

I do indeed feel tired 😊 but that's just me I think. I've always had an afternoon nap if time allows!

I had some blood tests but nothing came back as abnormal. I'm vegan too and have been for years now. I think I'm at 50 kg and not losing any more now. It's been a year at this weight now

You may have lost some muscle but are otherwise eating according to your needs. If you're busying about regularly, that might have replaced the output from formal exercise.

I had SPD in pregnancy and ended up near housebound. After the easy baby/ birth weight had gone, I was 2st heavier but my legs were an inch thinner than usual due to muscle loss. I went on to lose that gain, plus a bit more and spent a couple of years under pre-pregnancy weight after baby 2 too. It crept back up at 35.

Muscle loss. Muscle is denser than fat.

The body will try to break down muscle for energy over and above fat, if the muscles aren't being used enough. Because muscles burn energy at rest, the body burns muscle to reduce overall energy needs of the body at rest.

Vegan, loss of muscle. Make sure you’re supplementing B12.
