Sore feet after running

Does anyone else suffer with this, particularly after 10km or so. Not rubbing, or niggles. But just achy/sore in the joints for a day or so afterwards?

Sounds like you could do with new running shoes.

Perhaps new trainers or it might be worth looking at what type of runner you are and getting trainers that support your feet.

Years ago I went to a shop that watched how a ran to determine the type of running trainer I needed.
But that was years ago sadly can no longer run so do other forms of cardio/weight training instead.

I thought you’d say trainers! I trail run and have gone for the most cushioned and comfortable. Avoided inov8s! I have only recently bought them 😩… they’re my second pair as i find them so comfortable and grippy!

My dh wears hokas and they have a nice thick sole, I might go try some of them out

have you increased your distance to quickly?

Gwdihooooo · 06/05/2023 20:20

No. I’ve been running for years off and on. I’ve always had this problem!

I don't run but I do loads of fast walking and my feet and legs are always achy.

Gwdihooooo · 06/05/2023 20:30

I’m hoping it’s just fatigue, just wanted to see if it was common. Thanks

I lived my running but stopped three years ago, fearing damage to the plantar and feet. I now swim and have a pushbike. My feet are good again. Don't risk it

Maybe you need todo some calf stretches to hit whether the calf muscles insert into ankle, and foot strength and mobility exercises. Search google and YouTube for “doming” - it’s what dancers do to strengthen their feet for pointe work.

Trial shoes are quite minimal, what model of innov8 do you have? The trailfly type models have a lot of cushioning where the roclites and other “fell” models really don’t!

I’ve avoided Inov8s due to minimal cushioning… and the fact that they fall apart quickly!

I have 2 pairs of La Sportiva - Mutants and Ascents. I run in the mutants and use the ascents as everyday trainers, but I might swap them round.

Calf raised are a good idea, thanks. I do lots of squats!
