The best in ear headphones for exercise?

My AirPods are TERRIBLE!
They only last an hour or so and are dead again, they don’t fit my ear properly.

So I’m looking for something I can use while running as well as in the gym lifting.

I sweat a LOT, so must be able to cope with that.

Recommendations please!

Do they have to be in-ear?
I have a pair of Shokz and they have been an absolute game changer for me!
Great for running as you can still hear ambient noise.

I have Jabra Elite 4 active. IP57 rated so high sweat resistance.

Don't use them for running (am a spin for cardio person, and free weights), but they are 'hear through', which means you can hear your surroundings (good for awareness outdoors - cars, bikes, people).

My OH had the AirPods but they're not waterproof so the contacts corroded from sweat when running/gymming.

She's now got the Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless ones. Not cheap but she uses them all the time. They stay in her ears and are water resistant.

Another recommendation for Shokz. They're comfy and don't go anywhere..

Shokz here as well. My current pair have just reached the end of their life - had them three years and I use them every day as a headset for work as well as for running etc. Battery life is enough for a full day of music / Teams calls

Shokz definitely.

Thank you everyone, it looks like shokz is the way to go!

I was given Huawei freebuds a couple of years ago and absolutely love them. I run an hour most days and they hold their charge, decent in heavy rain and stay in my ears. Only thing is I'm not sure if compatible with other types of phones if not Android.

Shokz made feel sick 😫

PilatesPeach · 07/04/2023 19:08

yes 100% Shokz

Which AirPods? I don't rate the original ones at all, but I got the Pro version (in ear, not the big over-ear headphones) a few weeks ago and they are amazing. Much lighter and more comfortable than my previous Echo Buds, with the same noise cancellation / passthrough capabilities and obviously they work more smoothly with my iPhone too. Don't rule out a new pair of AirPods if yours weren't the Pro ones.

Dp bought me shokz for my birthday but they were hopeless. I don't know how anyone hears anything with them. I had to turn them up to their highest setting and I could still barely hear properly. I don't know if they just don't work on everyone.

I bought a cheap in ear pair that has a loop around the ear and a wire that connects them and they work great and cost a fraction of the price - I think they are unavailable now so don't know if they have a better model

Late to the party, but as a female runner the safety aspect of Shokz is not to be sneezed at. They allow you an awareness of your surroundings that in ear ones just can't. Same in the gym.

rwalker · 09/04/2023 20:59

I think you’ve been unlucky with AirPods live mi e battery life brilliant the new pro ones do fit differently

refreshingseahorse · 09/04/2023 21:53

Shokz are great for running but not great for gym workouts. The hearing your surroundings feature means you can hear gym music muxed in with your music.
