Hi

has anyone got one?

if so, how long do you go on it at a time and what do you aim for?

im not sure whether to do short rows each day or aim for longer ones over less days

You can mix it up. Try 500m sprints and look at your split time and try and improve that each time and you can also try 2k at more of a steady rate. There are lots of training videos on you tube etc

So your 500m sprints..would that be within a longer work out? Or would you just hop onto the rower for 500m?

Its my DD and DH who are the rowers. Some days they do a 500 m and then stretch and recover and do a second 500m and that is it (they do a warm up on the erg first). Other days they will warm up and just do a 2k piece and have targets set for each 500 m split that they are trying to achieve. Some days they do a 10k but that is a really slow and steady one and not more than 1 a week at most. They both erg about 5 days a week, so mixing up sprints and longer pieces helps keep it different and trains the muscles for more real conditions when they are actually racing as they have to do both in races

Thanks so so much. That makes sense.

out of interest what kind of rowing do they do?

I just row for about 20 minutes or do 5 minutes as my warm up before doing weights.

DD rows with a school team and they mostly do 5k head races. DH does open water rowing, crazy man 🤣

I had one until xh made me get rid. I followed a training programme on their website. Make sure you stay properly hydrated or you can end up with tendonitis.
