0 to marathon in 6 months - anyone want to join/support me?

Morning all, its my 42nd birthday today. I've always said I want to run a marathon (have been an on and off exerciser over the years but nothing very impressive!) And I've realised that the Inverness marathon is in 6 months time (about 3 hours from where i live). I want to do it. I know if I never try it's something I'll regret when im older.

I'm starting from ground zero...3 stone overweight and not very fit (although not totally unfit either)

Don't suppose anyone else wants to train with me for their own marathon in around the same time frame? We can share our highs and lows on here?

@IhateJan22 deal! It's happening. Have you done a marathon before?

Do you mean the Loch Ness marathon that starts and finishes in Inverness? The one on 1 October?

If so, a 16 week beginners' training plan will be starting in early June, and you'll want to be comfortable running 5k by then.. which means starting couch to 5k any day now. It's a big ask but possibly doable if you're very motivated!

@fellrunner85 yup it's the loch ness marathon. I have little running fitness just now but do routinely do les mills classes. Main thing I want to focus on in the next 6 weeks is losing weight as I'm so heavy just now running any distance would do my body more harm than good. And tying that in with something like couch to 5k plus my regular classes.

I know it will be a challenge but feeling up for it, I think I'm capable and will regret not giving it a bash so...

I've signed up today!
