Running while fasting

I'm fasting for a blood test first thing tomorrow ☹️ but I could really do with going for a run, I missed the past two days and I'm feeling it.

Can I go for a run or would that be stupid?

I meant to say, and I'm already super hungry (brain fog's also probably kicking in!). Technically I think I could still eat for the next couple of hours but it's an important test and I don't want to risk anything.

Eat until you’ve been told to fast. They always build in plenty of slack to the timings to accommodate people with less self control.

Personally I don’t like running when actively hungry.

LazyDoll · 21/02/2023 17:15

I wouldn’t because I know I’d faint during the blood test if I did this. If you don’t think that’s an issue for you I’d run. I never eat prior to running anyway - do you?

Verite1 · 21/02/2023 17:18

I wouldn’t fast over and above the time needed. So if you need to fast for 12 hours, no point doing 14 hours. On exercising whilst fasting - I do it all the time. And i always run first thing on an empty stomach anyway. Just don’t push it if you are not used to it.

Depending on what my overall running schedule and level of fitness is like, I often run before I eat in the morning. I've never found it difficult (but wouldn't do it if I was planning a really long run)

If you're not used to it, run now and have a light meal just before the cut off time for fasting for the test. If more habituated, eat now and run first thing in the morning (it somehow doesn't seem so bad first thing)

I usually run early evening and eat when I get back so while I wouldn't have just eaten, I'd normally have lunch behind me. I've actually had lunch but I'm really hungry. Maybe I'll have a banana as my last food.

I can't run first thing as I just wouldn't organise myself to start work, sadly.

Changed my mind, going for a brisk walk instead and no banana.

Just replying to myself to say that I didn't eat, I went for the run on the spur of the moment as I'd put on my stuff to go for the walk and thought "I'm here now", and ran my best ever time on that route 🤯
I can't make any sense of that🤔
