Redoing Couch 2 5K

Why is it so much harder? I first did it back in March 20, just before lockdown and enjoyed it. Got the bug. Ran a half in Nov 20. Kept it going until last year, getting faster and stronger and doing RED January in 22. Then, poof - mojo disappeared. Made half-hearted attempt to get back in the swing from March to Aug but then just gave up. Weight soared. Fitness bombed. Decided I needed a reset for 23 so have started it again but struggling in Week 4 even though my head knows I can do it. Feel quite despondent that I let my good health decline and I might not retrieve it. Is it just extra years and weight making the difference? Has anyone else struggled to restart?

Completed it during lockdown but after I had my babies I stopped running.

2 kids down I find it so hard to get out for exercise.

I EBF my second too so can't even leave her for very long. My only option is to go round the block multiple times just in case she needs my boob.

Hope someone has some answers!

What was week 4 again?

How old are you? I don't know why it's harder but it is. I have realised I
Hate running so I am not doing it

Week 4 is only 5 mins 😫. Two years ago I was running 10K three times a week.
I'm 52 so was 49 last time. Nothing much has changed otherwise (still get periods every 28 days 😬).

Additional weight does cost more effort. You'll get there though, it just takes patience, and it's easy to forget the effort it took first time around and remember the highs.

I had to redo C25k last year following injury... now training for a marathon and doing my longest ever runs 😬

If continuous running is an issue, "Jeffing" shorter run/ walk intervals may be more comfortable and increase the length a little each week. People use it to run all distances.

I'm 52 and just restarted. Week 2 now. I could do 5k in less than 25 mins a few years ago. Now I'm puffing after 2 mins!

Aiming to complete by Easter though Smile
