5am Gym and 1pm Nap

Hi, just looking for some advice!
I'm almost six months post partum and joined back to the gym before Christmas. It's worked out that the time best for me to go is 5am before my partner goes to work.
If I wait until he comes home, I won't go after cleaning, cooking and parenting I just know I won't.

I'm happy enough with this arrangement however, come 1pm, after lunch and the little one is down, I fall asleep for 40 mins and wake up a bit groggy and have to have a coffee. Before this I'm full of beans!

How do I get passed this mid-day slump is really my question!?

I mean I still nap when baby naps and she's 25 weeks old but I just can't help it!!

When I do go back to work, napping won't be an option but worried my brain will shut down instead!

When does your partner go to the gym ?

BabyB22 · 30/01/2023 14:21

@whattodo1975 I don't see how that's relevant but he doesn't, outdoors exercise is more his thing.

I’d enjoy the nap while you can!

Are you sure you're getting enough sleep during the night? If you make yourself stay awake during then you might get tired a bit earlier and sleep better.

FuelledbyCaffeine11 · 30/01/2023 14:23

I’d say enjoy your nap and worry about back to work when you are…

I guess the other obvious answer would be to go to bed earlier… also consider cutting back on caffeine and also any sugary foods that could cause an energy dip.

BabyB22 · 30/01/2023 14:30

@FuelledbyCaffeine11 Thing is I get 8 hours a night, give or take on the little one. I also get into bed for 9pm so I get plenty of sleep!

I drink about 3 cups a day but no sugar only what's in fruit or a snack bar.

When I hit this stage of the day though, I feel I need sugar!

I'm like this!!!

If I have an extremely active and productive morning, I have to have a little "siesta" around 12/1. I also wake up a bit groggy but I drink a bottle of water and have a small mug of coffee, and get fresh air for a few minutes (stand in the garden for a bit or by the garden door), then I'm fine!

I was like this even before my pregnancy. I'd sleep a solid 7-9 hours every night. To be fair I sleep just as much now with a 5 week old baby. I do take a vitamin D supplement, and iron. Me and my brother are like this, just like our dad. My sister and other brother are like Mum, they can just keep going. I genuinely think everyone's different and some people need that nap, and it's okay!

@kittymu9397

I think I'm just like that too! Also taking Vit D along with some other vitamins. I do everything in the book for energy and I do have alot just not between 1pm-2pm!

You on the other hand have a 5 week old and I wouldn't question your naps but if you were like this before maybe it's just our genetics.

My Mam is very lazy, doesn't get up until 12pm maybe later most days so might be taking after her but in different ways!

I do believe we take after my Dad when it comes to sleep (me and my brother).

My dad is from North Africa where they have a siesta, the whole family from grandparents to little cousins LOVE their sleep. On the days they don't work or have school they wake up around 11/12, and me and my brother were the exact same. My dad is still like this too. We can't push it all day if we wake up early. When i used to go to school as soon as it hit midday I'd be so tired and come 3pm I'd be shattered 😂😂 mum used to call me lazy but I think she realised now it really is genetics as my other 2 siblings don't have this issue and they're naturally early risers 🤣
