He’s doing his a levels at the moment including PE. He’s a regular at the gym, keen sportsman and very keen to train as a PT. He’s looked online and asked about but just wondered if anyone had any advice on the best way to go about it. TIA

I'm sure someone else will offer better advice but my sister did a PT course which was quite full on (I bet there are loads, check out which are accredited etc), then joined a gym to get some experience and then just set up on her own. It's taken quite a few years but she's busy now.

She charges £50ph in west London.

A lot of PTs get no work. So I think the important thing is to really build a brand, good use of SM do extra qualifications etc.
The one I know who gets the most work has a sports science degree, as masters in sports nutrition and is constantly on courses and training days.
I know plenty of people who do the bog standard one (is it level 3?) and just cannot get work.
