Made a right idiot of myself and have hurt myself in several places to boot 😕

Can't believe I ache this much.. falling over when you're nearly 60 is no fun.

No one here to moan to so I'm afraid im just whingeing out loud 😢

I fell over WALKING the other day - so you’re a winner in my eyes

Hadalifeonce · 17/09/2022 17:59

It has happened to the best of us, I fell over rushing to catch a train yesterday, I'm 65.

BogRollBOGOF · 17/09/2022 18:52

I had a couple of trips/ falls earlier this year while doing C25k post-injury. I've never gone over completely like that before and think the recovery time must have impacted my muscle strength/ balance.

When you're ready for action it might be worth doing some strength/ balance work to help.

I hope you feel better soon.

meateatingveggie · 18/09/2022 16:06

@BogRollBOGOF I think you're right. The slightest thing can throw me off balance.

Thank you

I'm 51 and fell UP the stairs on Friday...

CalamityClam · 18/09/2022 16:27

I fell over running recently (aged 50). Banged my head on the pavement, sat there with blood dripping and a car went past - someone shouted WANKKKKKER out of the window!

meateatingveggie · 18/09/2022 16:43

@CalamityClam how awful. There were people around who were very kind to me, which while embarrassing was lovely.

I'm sorry you didn't have the same.

@meateatingveggie I fell off my bike in a hilarious, awkward way front of a bunch of ironman competitors recently. Very embarrassing. 😩

ValBiro · 26/09/2022 23:49

I proper stacked it going for my first run in a long time back in April. I was showing off sprinting a final lap and went flying. Landed on my front, taking no impact on my hands or knees and cracked 3 ribs. I'm 36 if that makes any difference!

Picked myself up, and after a couple of weeks floating on codeine, carried on, and finished a local Half Marathon in the top 15 women this weekend.

Keep at it, op!

I fell over today, I went to get the bin back in after the bin men had left it down the road, and I tripped and went sprawling on the floor, ripping my jeans, and blood dripping out my knees. I felt so embarrassed, I couldn't get up quick enough! I'm 63 and ache a bit now too.

stampdutyquestion · 27/09/2022 00:10

I fell off my bike by trying to gently go up the kerb to park my bike by a lamp post in front of the postman Blushit was mortifying. I sort of fell sideways in slow motion and then the bike fell on top of me. It really hurt too... makes me blush thinking about it now

watcherintherye · 27/09/2022 00:14

I tripped up the stairs holding a cup of coffee for the decorator doing our hall, stairs and landing. I went sprawling and the drink went all over the newly painted wall - so embarrassing!

meateatingveggie · 27/09/2022 07:42

Oh dear, seems I'm not the only one. Falling over as an adult is such a shock.. it's taken over a week for me to stop hurting and I still have bruising which is now green.. lovely.

Hope you all heal up quickly Flowers

I lost my balance and fell backwards into spiky bilberry bush and pyracantha. My resistance to falling meant I lacerated my arms and some giant elbow arm and knee bruises. Now dousing myself in arnica to speed up healing

tulips27 · 27/09/2022 15:02

@meateatingveggie How's your pain? My local GP has self-referral for physio if needed, maybe yours does too?

dampgreg · 27/09/2022 15:34

Ouch, hope you're ok OP.

I'm just a series of embarrassing accidents. My extra large head affects my centre of gravity so every time I fall I manage to bang my head too. I slipped on a blueberry in the kitchen, fell onto my hands and knees and my head carried on and head butted the concrete floor 😬.

meateatingveggie · 27/09/2022 15:59

@tulips27 I'm ok now thanks.. in fact I ventured out this morning for a 'run' to get me back in to it. I say 'run' because it's really walking with some gentle trotting every now and again (mainly downhill).

Have to say I was quite nervous about making a complete tit of myself again and found myself picking my feet up more than was probably needed lol.

Ouch!! Pyracantha is evil stuff, without the help of a bilberry bush. That must be so sore :(

Apparently in Liverpool if anyone over 60 falls and requires treatment they are referred to dept of gerontology ‘falls clinic’ 👍🏿☘️

BrandNewBicep · 28/09/2022 16:58

I was in Boots yesterday. I crouched down to look at something on the bottom shelf, lost my balance and fell over. Thankfully there was no one on that aisle.
Idiot.
