Have a half marathon which I've so far trained pretty well for on Sunday 2nd October! My period is due on Saturday 1st October!
Any tips?!
Or just mentally prepare myself that I'll feel fine 😬

I guess it depends on your periods effect you? Wouldn't bother me!

I don't gps prescribe it anymore but you get a private prescription for a drug you can take to delay it. Maybe try that if you think it'll have a negative effect?

Oh God you can have my sympathy that sucks.

I'd probably take some heavy duty iron / eat loads of steak the week before / eat super well generally / get loads of sleep in the build up just to make sure you're as well as you can be.

Go really easy on the runs the week before.

Relax any expectations for times - just go really easy for at least 6 miles and only pick up the pace if you're feeling ok after that point.

Personally I wouldn't delay it although you can get tablets - the idea of being suspended in a 'nearly but not quite on my period' state would be even worse as they're my most awful days!!!

I usually feel heavy legged / fatigued the couple of days before and then Day 1/2 so as pp said it does depend on how it affects you usually. Have you done any long runs whilst you're on day 1 / 2??

I've raced while on a period, and it's not a pb day. These days I can keep on top of it with ibuprofen but in my youth it would have been a write-off as I could barely walk from the pains. I do feel sluggish and heavy legged so I have to be gentle with myself, but it does settle in to a rythum once going.

I was hoping for a sub 2 got 2,01.36 same race in March! Obviously depends on me & conditions on day!

I'll start upping the iron intake!

I ran 13 miles on last period but it was an endurance run & at a slower pace & I felt like a slug! I have been beasting my training so could've been a bit fatigued too hopefully because I would've been tapering before this race I'll feel a bit better!

I'm just going to have to wing it I think & stop panicking 🙈😂

Totally depends on how much your periods affect you tbh. My half PB was run during my period and it wasn't an issue, but then my periods aren't particularly awful.
