Jogging- help me get my groove back

I'm a reluctant jogger but I enjoy the getting out of the house, the "me time" and the fact I find I do feel healthier physically and mentally when I do it.

I've stopped doing it. I mapped out a perfect route around a park and I could just run on auto-pilot. A few weeks ago I was attacked and bitten by two off-lead dogs and now I can't bring myself to run there again. I don't want to pay for an expensive gym membership to to run, it seems crazy. Street running makes me uncomfortable due to being rather larger than the average runner and I've been jeered at doing this. What do others do? Any suggestions how I can get my confidence back?

Try the free trial on Strava to find some new routes. I don't like doing the same routes all the time and I alternate really short runs (2.5-3km) with long runs (10km). It is also worth seeing if you have a local running group. I like running with others as having a natter at the same time makes it far more enjoyable for me.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Don't let it out you off though.

Join C25K group or FB women's running group. You will get to know others in similar position to you and maybe find a regular running buddy there.

Go early in the day or later in the evening with fewer people around.

Parkrun!

Parkrun as hotdogs suggested is a good call.

I've only just started doing Parkrun having avoided it for so long and it's a good way of getting into the zone, and everyone is so supportive whatever pace you're going at.

Parkrun definitely. If you’re not sure sign up to volunteer one week at your local one to get a feel and go from there
