Biking - towing 7plus stone uphill

My brain likes figures and I appreciate a workout better if I have figure so wonder if anyone can work out a ball point figure for me.

I cycled 4.5 miles today while towing around 7 stone (children plus trailer weight) and approx 2 miles was uphill. Average pace of 3.9mph. Pretty breathless on uphill parts. I weigh 13 stone.

Can anyone work out rough calories burned? Or if the mph average was good, bad etc.

Furthest I've gone with the kids on the bike today.

I tow my DS regularly (he’s 5) - weight, including trailer is approx 4 stone. I use a power meter on my bike which calculates the kilojoules (I won’t bore you with how it does that!) so gives exact calories burnt.

So that took you about an hour peddling? It depends on your own body weight and bike weight (you’re having to expend energy to propel bike and body forward too) and fitness levels. For me (seasoned cyclist - race/ basically live on a bike), that’d probably be about 400 calories.

I think gbmapometer.co.uk you can plot your route & put in weight & it will do calories for you. Presumably a bit variable for speed, but I’d have thought gives a ballpark?

I'd usually estimate at 80-100 calories per 10min for moderate cardio activity although you're heavier than me so maybe top end of that or a bit more.
My cycle commute was 566 calories for 56 min of cycling earlier this week (that's off a chest strap heart rate monitor) at what I'd consider to be a fairly leisurely pace/effort. It's undulating once I get up one initial climb of a hill but I covered 15km in that time.

Thanks all. Rough figures are better than none. I was certainly "puggled" afterward that's for sure.

I wear a fitbit to figure this sort of thing out !!

Other figures posited here seem about right, up to 500 kcal over what you'd burn sitting on the sofa.
