Hula hoop. Weighted v unweighted?

I have been hooping for over a year now. Using a weighted hoop. I've been trying to find out which is better for cardio/fat burning/waist slimming and professor Google throws up a lot of mixed answers.
Anything from weighted hoops are better as the added weight makes you burn more calories. To unweighted are better as you have to work harder to keep the hoop going. Does anyone have the definitive answer on this?
I did try my boys smaller, unweighted hoop this morning and felt more tired after my usual 30 min session.

Just found your post as I was trying to find out if weighted hoops help trim your waistline. Have you not had any results in the last year?

I used to hula hoop and I couldn't do it with an unweighted hoop at all, so for me there was no question of getting one. If you could do it for 30 minutes then it might be worth mixing it up a bit and doing half and half, as it sounds like maybe it works different muscles.
