I hate my Apple Watch!

I had a Fitbit before the apple watch and liked it but it was getting quite elderly (in Fitbit terms) and so my husband bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas.

I have lost it and I’m currently turning the house upside down hunting for it but it’s made me realise I dislike it.

I used to monitor steps on the Fitbit but Apple Watch has something called rings, as far as I can see, to close all three exercise rings every day seems an impossible task which puts me right off. I thought the connection to my phone was a plus but it actually just irritates me and sometimes Siri’s gone off at random moments.

Im wondering whether to just get another Fitbit … of course as soon as I do the watch will show up. Anyone else got a smartwatch they hate?

You can set the goals to whatever you want - if you want it to make it easier to close your rings, change the settings.

I didn’t know that, thank you.

I will have to find it first!

If it's connected to your phone, your phone may be able to help you locate it?

OldTinHat · 29/05/2022 17:14

Not what you've asked, but how long did your Fitbit last? I've had mine for 26 months and the screen is dead. It still tracks via the app but I thought it would have lasted longer.

Springsnow22 · 29/05/2022 17:16

Oh, that’s really annoying. I bought mine March 2019 and it was still working but slow and a bit sluggish generally in January.

My Apple Watch really has vanished, so so strange.

Thanks, if it was turned on it would but it’s out of charge!

Open the Find Friends app on one of your other devices, it should be there under devices for you to locate, if the battery isn’t dead I think you can play a sound on it to help locate (don’t have an Apple Watch, but do this regularly from my iPad when I misplace my phone around the house).

EspeciallyDistracted · 29/05/2022 17:19

Can’t you do Find My from your phone? Won’t work if it’s gone flat though but

I didn’t like the rings at first and only looked at steps but now I really like closing them. And when I lose my phone I like being able to ping it from my watch to find it again.

Notonthestairs · 29/05/2022 17:19

I could never close my rings either - very annoying and disheartening. But the most recent software update seems to have fixed that - no idea how/why!

Hope it turns up - found mine in the laundry bin once!

You can turn off notifications on your Apple Watch when found. Just swipe up on the screen and click on the bell it will then go red with a line through it. It may be how you are using your watch too. If you click on it to select outdoor walk and log it it will monitor your pace, I have found that really useful to show my increasing levels of fitness. I started at dying sloth level of fitness!

Blaze1886 · 29/05/2022 17:23

It depends what you want, one is a fitness tracker and the other is a smart watch

MerlinsButler · 29/05/2022 17:23

If you want to track steps you can download a pedometer app and add the number of steps on to your watch face. I like that aspect of Fitbit but this way works on the Apple Watch. You don't get the fireworks when you hit 10,000 steps though 😀

Springsnow22 · 29/05/2022 17:24

Thanks! I’ve checked the laundry, every drawer, under all furniture … baffled!

Honestly I loved my Fitbit and was desperate for an Apple Watch but I agree apart from the convenience of it buzzing when my phones in a another room and someone's calling me, I prefer my Fitbit 100%

chipsandpeas · 29/05/2022 17:29

apple watch still shows step count even tho its not a target of a ring you can still track them

70kid · 29/05/2022 17:55

Go to your iCloud account you can make the Watch ring out loud so you can find it
or use find my watch on your iPhone
search how to find my Apple Watch
I had to do it yesterday 😂

Springsnow22 · 29/05/2022 18:11

Unfortunately that doesn’t work if it’s switched off!

My suggestion is better to find you watch with your Phone. If your watch had no powerthen it is little hard to find it. Anyway you can do your regularly workout goal with some other devices.
