How much do you do in a week? And do you mix up classes?

I'm fairly new still (close to 50 ride milestone!) and still figuring a routine. Am mixing 20/30 "fun" classes which are more intervals with power zone endurance of 30/45 mins and trying to build up to 60/75 min classes. Added in some barre and stretch and going to start arm weights once my random elbow pain has gone Grin

I'm doing probably 6 rides a week and wondered what everyone else does

Well done on getting to 50 rides!

I use the bike around 5 times a week and do strength classes too.

A typical week might be:

Monday 45/60min powerzone endurance

Tuesday 30min music themed fun ride (usually intervals/tabata) plus a 30 minute full body strength

Wednesday 30 minute powerzone/powerzone max

Thursday rest

Friday 45min bike bootcamp

Saturday rest

Sunday 30/45 mins any ride plus 20 minute strength class

I often stack rides so do a 10 min plus 20 min to mix up music/instructors.

I'd recommend doing one of the powerzone programmes on the bike or joining one of the many women's groups who put on training challenges/schedules. Lots about. Join the UK ladies peloton Facebook page and ask for recommendations.

I find vaguely planning my week in advance helps and I plan a mix of endurance and more high tempo stuff.

Sofasogood1 · 04/05/2022 00:53

(some weeks I might do 4 days, some 6/7. No rules here for me)

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 04/05/2022 04:17

I actually never ride my bike anymore. My DH does occasionally. I run on my Peloton tread a few times a week and also go to Orangetheory and Club Pilates. I think I might just be slight addicted to joining expensive exercise cults 😂

MrOllivander · 04/05/2022 09:45

@Sofasogood1 thanks, that's helpful
I was going to do build your power zones but I'm doing 3 x power zone rides a week anyway so wasn't sure if worth it IYSWIM?
I'm still unfit but in 2 months I've gone from nothing to 45 min rides

I would find a challenge op - I'll PM you. They build schedules to build fitness, increasing intensity over a six or eight period, mixing up PZ endurance, PZ and PZ max as well as other classes and mini challenges.

Sofasogood1 · 04/05/2022 10:11

And then you re do your FTP test of course and see your fitness build!! I occasionally re do rides I did 3 FTP tests ago and marvel at my output now Vs then 😀

MrOllivander · 04/05/2022 10:24

Don't make me do that again!
I redid my first ride and this is first ride and 8 weeks later

Excellent well done!!

Powerzone training only really pays off if you re do your FTP!

I do about five rides and five yoga classes a week. Mostly 30 or 45 minute (bike) and 20 or 30 minute (yoga).

I like the Jess King Experience ones for a solid workout (it's glittery, usually a tough workout, plus her chat with DJ John Michael is daft and fun), and a Kendall metal ride or anything Olivia if I really want to hurt myself.

Christine D'Ercole is brilliant in all kinds of ways. She has a brilliant taste in music. Her New Wave rides are often a bit of a challenge.

Matt Wilpers is good for the lower impact ones, as he does this conditioning thing where you switch leg emphasis and in some cases actually unclip to pedal with one leg only, which is good for mind-muscle connection.

Chelsea Jackson Roberts is good for a morning yoga. I also like Ross Rayburn.

(I may also be so obsessed with Erik Jager's muscly arms that I do his German rides even though I don't speak a word of German. 😆)

NightmareSlashDelightful · 04/05/2022 11:07

Oh -- and Tunde has some great rides if you want to push yourself. I love her. She can switch from warm and welcoming to absolute warrior queen like that <snaps fingers>

MrOllivander · 04/05/2022 11:12

I haven't ridden with Christine or Tunde yet!
I really like Matt and Denis, and Cody if I'm having a crap day as he makes me laugh Grin

I'm an app user, so I don't use it as much as If expect an owner too, I tend to favour Leanne, Hannah Franklin (love it when she does grime!), Dennis Morton for the bike. For strength, yoga, outdoor running etc, I'm less fussy. I always think I'm not that keen on Robin, Jess, Cody, but then they get me smiling and I realise I've really enjoyed it 🤷‍♀️.

Lizzim18 · 04/05/2022 19:19

I do a 20-30 min ride each day in the week, I tend to pick rides based on the music playlists but do a mix of classes.

I try and do a 10 min strength class (most often arms & light weights) and a post ride stretch.

At weekends I do longer rides and am building up my strength classes.

We have had our bike for just over a year and still use it daily 😁

nbee84 · 04/05/2022 20:30

App user here too. I use it almost daily - I do a mix of rides (non pelo bike at home), strength & treadmill (at budget gym). Also do a bit of sleep meditation (peri menopause insomnia Sad) and I love a bike bootcamp.
I was a big Les Mills app user before getting the Peloton app but now favour the Peloton app - the content is great as there is such a great mix of workouts and everything from 5 mins to 90 mins. Music is great too - Les Mills uses cover music.

dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck · 04/05/2022 20:35

At the moment I’m only doing three 45 minute rides a week all scenic but I really push myself. I lost my routine when we all got Covid and need to find time to get back to it properly as I want to see and feel results.

Hello Peloton people!
@MrOllivander - how do I get started with the power zone rides? Im hoping to get to 250 rides by the end of the month, so might be time to try a new challenge.
Do I need to do a fitness test first? Where will I find it on the classes screen?

If you go to programmes, there's discover your power zones which is the easiest way. Click on it and it gives you an intro class; then the FTP warmup and FTP test
Once you finish the test it adds the power zone bar to your screen
