For pain is really getting me down!

Please, Has anyone got success stories about defeating for pain? I think it’s plantar fasciitis… typical signs painful when walking after rest. Heroes but then comes back after walking for long periods.

It’s really getting me down!

I ice it daily, roll it, stretch it, use special insoles, I’ve stopped wearing my favourite shoes in favour of more support. I’ve even bought a pair of Birkenstocks soo I’m not walking barefoot around the house.

The pain just won’t go!! I haven’t run for months, I can see the weight gain!

Have you seen anyone about it? I think you need to see a physio or someone who will diagnose and treat it.

A friend had plantar fascitis went to see the physio who gave her exercises to do to help recovery. It seem to heal pretty quick after following them.

I had electric shock treatment on my feet which sorted it out (having suffered for years).

Seconding the physio advice - I was given targeted exercises and stretches which definitely helped. Also, Birkenstocks may be exacerbating it; I can’t wear mine any more! But it’s true that you should never go barefoot. You may need to try lots of different shoes until you find the magic ones, which can be an expensive process. I’m a Fitflop convert now. My PF has - touch wood - pretty much completely disappeared, but I don’t know whether it was a matter of time, the shoes, the exercises or a combination of all three.

Good luck, though - it’s a miserable condition.

So I bought sketchers slippers for the house. They are like a slipper with a trainer type sole. Birkenstock’s aren’t that supportive.

No advice but empathise, I haven't run for 12 weeks, have developed chronic sciatica in left leg, and bursitis.
In pain every day and fed up... And the weight gain... 😔

I had this also for the first year of lockdown. I think it was brought on by working from home and so much time in m slippers. I now wear a pair of halfinger slippers with arch support. Really comfortable and the pain is gone. They also come in more of a clog style, but I like to keep m ankles warm. www.shoegarden.co.uk/collections/womens-slippers/products/haflinger-slippers-everest-iris-blue

I've had Plantar Fasciitis more than once, and it was terribly painful. I tried all the things you have and eventually had to have a steroid injection in the heel. That was painful in itself but was the only thing that worked.

You need a proper diagnosis first.

Thank you all for your replies! I haven’t been to see anyone about it… I’ve just tried everything I’ve read about it online. I will try to book a physio.

I bought Birkenstocks due to recommendations on here as they have arch support 🙄

Look up the two minute calf stretch on you tube, this keeps mine at bay. And Bob and Brad the physios. @MsWalterMitty

I saw a podiatrist who told me what insoles to buy and exercises to do. The key for me was calf stretching and massage. Also massaging the foot muscle itself.

Physio consultation!

And I must be made differently - I found that after the first acute onset of plantar fasciitis (both times it came from high impact exercise on the spot - I could almost feel the ligaments/muscles popping) walking barefoot, carefully, mindfully rolling through my foot heel to toes on each step, really helped.

I've never got on with Birkies - they make my toes clench up & my instep muscles tense to hold the shoes on my feet.

Bob and Brad are great!
