Feel fine running but then exhausted

I’ve been doing C25K. I’m on week 6 and I’m enjoying it and feel completely fine while I’m running but then utterly exhausted for the rest of the day. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to recover better? I run at lunch time/early afternoon.

it's ok to feel exhausted for a little time but generally you should recover quickly.

what's your diet like?
are you possibly anaemic?

Getting plenty of protein post run helps with recovery so might help.

I was going to post this. I did C25K last year and now run 5k 2 mornings a week and feel great! But the afternoons are a complete write off and I just feel so tired. I thought running was meant to energize!

Totally normal, and it's because you're so new to running. C25k knocked me out when I did it. But then you get used to that level of activity and yes, it leaves you feeling energised rather than tired.

If anyone had told me when I did c25k that one day I'd be doing steady 5ks to loosen myself up on rest days, I'd have said they were totally nuts.
