I'm hoping to swim daily and thought I'd write a diary to spur me on. Please join in if you like!

Today : Day 1
11:30-12:30 One hour

That's well done -- our swim sessions are 50 minutes long. You can get out for 10 minutes & get back in the next session, but they haven't gone back to pre-Covid ways of doing things. All booked ahead & limited time here, still.

Oh, that sounds annoying. Ours have to be booked ahead still. Hoping they go back to the old ways at some point.

I am trying to to a minimum of thirty minutes five days a week, I usually manage more. I am motivating myself by swimming virtual distances using my Fitbit and the Conqueror app. This summer ( I am in Oz) I have swum the Channel and am now 44% of my swim along the virtual Berlin Wall. :D

Did another hour today. It was lovely and quiet. Oddly said was 'booked up' on the app some sessions. Think they usually have schools in as well.

Feeling much better for it, it helps with anxiety and feeling stressed I find..doing it as much for the mental health benefits as the physical ones

I swim a lot but wish there was a cap that kept hair completely dry

I've just started swimming due to an ankle injury preventing running. I've had my first adult lesson which has sorted out my breaststroke so I can now breathe under water too, I can't wait to be able to do front crawl as well mainly as it's bloody boring doing endless lengths of breaststroke.

But I'm astounded you can do an hour. The most I do is 30 mins I just run out of things to think about!

I try to go 5 days a week. There is no swimming on a Saturday, but thankfully we don't have booking anymore and our sessions are 2 or 3hrs long. I went at 11.30 today and had a medium lane to myself the whole time I was in, the sun was streaming in the windows and lighting up the water, it was lovely.

I do a breaststroke one way and then backstroke, alternate. I'm fairly slow though so maybe that's why it takes me longer.

I was swimming 30 -40 minutes five days a week before Christmas so trying to get back to that now. I also try to do an Aqua class once or twice a week. Have been twice this week and will try to go tomorrow. I do mainly breast stroke but also walk up and down and do side stepping as well.

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/01/2022 19:16

I do an aqua class as well sometimes they're quite good aren't they?

Honestly everyone if you’re swimming this much, get a gym membership with a decent pool. I have to go twice a week to make it pay, I don’t have to book and it’s always relatively quiet and even if I’m stupid enough to turn up at aqua tsunami time, there’s still room in a lane to swim.

I aim for 3 miles a week with at least one open water session.

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/01/2022 19:28

Yes, I have a membership or it would be quite costly I agree.
