How to link Fitbit versa 3 activities to Strava?

Have got a new Fitbit versa 3 and looking online I should be able to link my runs and walks to Strava on my phone
I’ve tried linking it but after I did a test walk this afternoon noting links to Strava just shows on Fitbit app
Highly frustrating as did some research before and apparently it should work
Had the same with versa 2 but thought 3 was a newer model 😡

don't you have to tell Fitbit to connect, too?

warning, no heart rate monitor on Garmin (& Garmin & Fitbit both linked to Strava) meant my Garmin recordings wiped out (flatlined) my heart rate data on fitbit dashboard -- this is a known glitch & there was no solution. I unlinked Fitbit to Strava to avoid the table top data I was going to get from Fitbit whenever I used Garmin. Was easiest solution for me.

I think it only goes to Strava if you have the GPS activated. So if it’s doing the smart track thing then that doesn’t get sent to Strava.
I use it for cycling but need to remember to actually start a bike ride on my watch rather than just cycle off and wait for it to realise.

I have exactly the same problem and have spoken to both Fitbit and Strava who both insist it should work as long as the accounts are linked - which they are. It’s really annoying. I wish I’d bought a Garmin now
