Welcome all to the 2022 distance challenge thread!

Any form of self-powered movement which you can log distance for; any distance in whatever units you like for your own personal challenge!

Just a very blustery 6.2km to add from yesterday.
TTD 199.8km

rrhuth · 22/02/2022 19:22

I did 1 mile yesterday (annoying) and 5 miles today (better). I think that makes 145.5 TTD.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/02/2022 16:00

8.1km

363.7 km walked
35km rowed

2 miles yesterday and 4 miles today. If I had known I had only done 4 I would have carried on a bit further so I will try to do the extra mile tomorrow! 151.5miles TTD.

I have done 15% of my target in 15% of the year so far, which is pleasingly tidy Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2022 16:02

7.1 km today

370.8 km walked

That's good, especially in view of all the bad weather this month.Smile

2.5 miles yesterday and 7 miles today. My little feet were a bit tired during the last mile. TTD = 161 miles

Hi again @ErrolTheDragon, you have done some good long walks this weekend! I did 4 miles today and it was COLD. 165 miles TTD.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/02/2022 18:20

It wasn't too bad today here. I think it was about 6° when we started, 11° at the end, but the sun was warm - I shed my fleece and just had my walking jacket on after a bit of uphill, open but DH had both layers off.
But tomorrow the forecast it's going to be a complete turnaround to heavy rain all day so I think I've probably reached my February total. Down on January but not as much as I'd expected, given all the storms!

Checking in to say I’ve been rubbish (exactly what joining in here was meant to prevent). DH is now off crutches and we have school holidays, I’m out of the cellar and trying not to think about looming exams.
I’m not counting today’s mileage for the grand total as it was on downhill skis which seems like cheating, but anyway 44 km downhill distance (was with DD who doesn’t believe in going slowly) and a balmy -10°C at the top of the mountain.
5.5 k walk, 67k ski, 5k skate, 8.5k bike
TTD 86k

Well done Errol on all of the walking despite the storms.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/02/2022 00:08

Any sort of skiing doesn't sound like cheating and 44km sounds awesome to me! Glad to hear your DH making progress.

February has been shite weatherwise over here too. Most weekends have been to windy to get out on the bike properly so I've done a lot of walking and hiking instead. Until yesterday I had done 120km walking and only 65km cycling.

I bit the bullet yesterday and completed a 200km cycle down into the Midlands of Ireland and back home across the plains of Kildare. Plenty of birds around including a buzzard taking flight from a fence about 7m in front of me.
The photos are of the entrance gate to Duckett's Grove castle, a Georgian gothic pile. The grave of an Irish soldier who died in WWI and whose body was reinterred in a little medieval monastery graveyard in Co. Lapis. Support for Ukraine in a distant part of Carlow.

As predicted February has been a bit of a rubbish month running-wise (though some lovely skiing!). Just 45.4 miles for February, year to date total 147.2. Heigh ho, if I stick to my current training plan I'll do 107 miles in March which would put me back on track.

IsThisNameTaken · 28/02/2022 12:06

3 runs to add - 12.6, 7.7 and 6.2 km
Looks a bit wet for the rest of the week though!
TTD 226.3 km

Well done Errol on all of the walking despite the storms.

24km of Nordic skiing today with some challenging uphills and quite frightening downhills. DH managed a walk which is great. Picture postcard weather. 5.5k walk, 91k ski, 5k skate, 8.5k bike TTD 110k
Tarahumara · 01/03/2022 06:39

Also been rubbish here! Busy at work and unpredictable weather. Back on it in March.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/03/2022 16:03

Rainy yesterday, but another perfect clear sky day today. Although it was frosty first thing, I was down to my T-shirt in the sun at some points after we'd done some uphill. Fabulous views of the mountains around.

409.2km walked
35km rowed

I did only 2 miles yesterday and nothing today, but I did do yoga which is good for both my back and my work stress. 167 miles TTD.

CardiCorgi · 02/03/2022 20:39

28km cross country ski with some lung-busting climbs. I signed up to a local ski challenge - amazing the motivating effect of the possibility of a free water bottle, or is that just me?
@rrhuth I keep trying yoga but don’t really “get” it. I’m glad it works for you.

5.5k walk, 119k ski, 5k skate, 8.5k bike
TTD 138k

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2022 22:42

I've not tried yoga other than one or two videos but I'm a Pilates fan - especially as my instructor is carrying on with zoom classes so I don't have to waste time travelling and can do it twice a week.

OP posts:
rrhuth · 03/03/2022 04:59

5 miles yesterday, 172 TTD.

I'm going to try to do more yoga as I am terribly inflexible and have an awful job, it will hopefully help with both issues!
