Does anyone know if online weighloss coaches and personal trainers are worth the money? The lady I messaged says her prices start from £149 per month! I’ve seen some at £30 a month. Such a difference in costs. I asked her what you get for the money and she won’t tell me until we have had a phone call which is a £30 charge whether you go ahead or not! Does anyone know if 149 p/m is a good price?

That's seems very expensive and to charge you £30 for a consulting call. I would avoid and keep looking.
I followed an online PT for £100 in September. It was okay, no video check ins, just daily messages. My "personal" work out plan was not updated during that month, which I feel was disappointing.

I now follow Les Mills on Demand for £8.99 a month. There are plenty of workout plans to suit your needs e.g weight based training or cardio with equipment and non equipment options. The online support group is amazing. I have achieved a lot more do it this way Smile

Thats ridiculously expensive and £30 for an initially phonecall would be alarm bells for me!

You could have in person training once a week for £150.

The James Smith academy is around £40 a month with personalised exercise and coach check ins, I really like him but understand that his approach is not for everyone!

I got paired with Simon on the SafeFit trial. Hmmmm I thought, a young, fit, vegan male from London matched with an out of shape, middle aged, mum of 2 from Yorkshire - that will never work. It did Blush. Went from not being able to walk around the village, to getting my kickboxing brown belt (couldn't even get back on the dojo to start with). Highly recommended him. Doesn't push the vegan stuff, but happy to if asked. I have also lost 11kg!

I tried someone for similar cost a few years back (pre-pandemic where online was not huge but suited me with 2 under 2 at the time).

There was no cost for consultation and no pressure to sign up but I wanted to learn more about fitness as prior to the programme (and pre-children), exercise always consisted of a few fitness classes at the gym when it suited me and long swims.

The trainer designed a programme just for me based on how often I wanted to train and gave me advice on dietary changes. I had a weekly call with her and chatted on Whatsapp whenever I wanted if I had any questions.

I learnt a lot - in hindsight a lot of what I learnt is readily available for little cost but it is so hard to know what to follow and believe where fitness is concerned. I follow a lot of the principles now to try stay in shape although I am not able to exercise 5+ times a week as life is still too busy!

Negatives are that you don't have someone watching the workout and correcting your form (unless the PT you are using offers this virtually). This worked for me as my times were not pre-planned with 2 young children at home but if I were to have PT now, I would want them to watch me train if virtual or train with them in person. Also, whilst she said she was qualified in postpartum training, she didnt have children and I really didn't feel she got it how hard it is to maintain anything when sleep deprived. I got incredibly annoyed when she talked about sleep being vital for health as it is something you just cant control at that stage of life!

Hi @TTCbaby: I've signed up with an online coach & honestly its money for old rope :( [although i'm hoping throwing my money away will motivate me]

I've also signed up to get PT at home (2 x a week) - going rate here in outer london is 30-35 £ ph, & I am finding that really helpful. I would suggest you get some PT sessions, which are really motivating, and your PT may make suggestions on your diet, or you could try my fitness pal or noom etc for much less

I think your monthly fees for online weight loss coach personal trainer is too expensive. One of my friend joint for weight loss coach online at under £50. The weight loss courses also very easy to follow in the daily life, So my small suggestion is try to avoid that monthly plan.
