I don't need any more bags, clothes, face potions or jewellery! Xmas Grin

I have been given some Christmas money and would like to put it towards something to encourage me to lose a couple of stone and get moving more often. That said, I have all the workout clothes and trainers I could ever need! But there must be something...

Ideas so far:

  • 3 months' membership to a swanky gym/spa with a pool
  • Bala ankle weights
  • Apple Fitness subscription

Sure there are some more ideas?!

Subscription to Les Mills - fantastic range of workouts and such good value for money!

Kokora · 27/12/2021 22:47

Ooh that's a good one!

Weights. A barbell and some dumbells. Lifting is so satisfying.

I second the Les Mills subscription, it's absolutely brilliant.

So many potential subscription services - personally I really like the Peloton app (but we do have a generic spin bike at home). I use it for spin classes, running (outdoor as well as treadmill), yoga, weights etc etc. I'd try some different ones on their free trial and see which you like best.

How about investing in some time with a PT? They'll work you harder than you'll work yourself, and give you the tools to be able to work out by yourself in between visits.

Fitness tracker watch and scales that sync together?

Running race entry fees?

Taster session at an outdoor boot camp?

Kokora · 28/12/2021 09:13

I already have an Apple Watch but I do like the idea of Bluetooth scales. Smile

Hadn’t thought of a PT, good idea thank you!

PT was the best money I ever spent. I miss her now I’ve moved. I’ve now got the confidence to use the weights in the gym without feeling like I’m going to hurt myself. If you’re doing one thing, do that. Les mills online is brilliant though.

Really good running/gym shoes
A lovely, flattering set of leggings and sports top
Handweights and kettlebell
resistance bands

But actually I agree with @PurpleDaisies. Hiring a PT was the best money I ever spent. First time I'd ever invested any money at all in myself. I am v low maintenance. It kickstarted my fitness and weight loss. Once I got fit enough I joined a bootcamp and go regularly now. I love it.

Lovely gym stuff. And les Mills. I loved les Mills in demand but I didn’t have time to do it!! It’s easier than getting to the gym in some ways.
(Maybe I’d pay for a cleaner so I could work out instead! )

Fiit is brilliant, really motivating classes! Much better than Apple Fitness which is a bit naff in comparison imo ( I have both). Or if you have a bigger budget, I’d recommend Peloton. We both use ours regularly and so do our kids.
