Gym wear

Not sure whether to post here or S+B!

I need new gym wear. Mine is old and worn out. It’s various brands; Reebok, JD sports, m +s, Superdry, none of which I love and would re buy.

Give me your recommendations for non see thru, squat proof, non falling down, black or dark coloured full length leggings.
I’m a 12-14 with a generous 🍑!

I've bought a few Fabletics sets (all on their introductory offers - multiple email accounts for the win). I really like them, they stay up and keep their shape, wide range of colours and styles (plus as a petite person I can choose the right leg length). Just need to remember to 'skip' the following month and close the account so as not to get into their odd subscription format.

Ryderwear, Do You Even, Gluteywear, Adidas and Nike Pro are all good imo and have all seen me through 18 months of regular CrossFit.

Sweaty Betty Power leggings, always bought in the sale for about £45-50. I rotate 3 pairs for Body Pump, Body Balance and Zumba and they all look new despite being a few years old now. Zero Gravity leggings are thinner and better for summer/hot workouts but they're not squat proof!

PurpleDaisies · 16/12/2021 08:21

I love Sweaty Betty power leggings too. I’ve got a few pairs from sales.

I’ve got some from Under Armour that were cheaper and do a good job. No pocket which annoys me a bit but they’re squat proof, flattering and comfortable.

itwasntaparty · 16/12/2021 08:50

Fabletics, just cancel once you have claimed the 2 for £24. I really rate them, they are truly squatproof.

Stellaris22 · 16/12/2021 10:47

I've avoided spending too much on gym clothes because I'm losing weight. I've found the Good Move brand by M&S great and my PT really rates Ryder and Gym Shark. I have Gym Shark socks which are great quality.

I've actually just bought some leggings from Simply Be not expecting much, but they are brilliant. High waist which is perfect for squats (did a Glutes session with squats and split lunges), they have pockets and are very comfortable.

I totally forgot good move. I’ve got a lot of t shirts from them. I really like the knotted front ones. I am in between sizes for leggings but they’re great Value and have some nice patterns.

Monkeybutt1 · 16/12/2021 12:45

Tikiboo without a doubt, they are the best leggings. Big pockets, squat proof and don't fall down.

CrotchetyQuaver · 16/12/2021 12:47

The M&S stuff is good value for the money, my DDs told me all the leggings looked squat proof although I had big black granny knickers on underneath just in case

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/12/2021 12:59

I do think it's worth spending a bit more on bottoms for the reason's you've mentioned , you can then go cheap and cheerful on tops.

I tend to buy less but buy better and love Swetty Betty but look out for sales ... I've several pairs that have been going a few years now but only paid £45 ish per pair. Their prints are great with a thick high waistband.

Take care with supermarket or Primark ones ... they can look great at first but I've noticed on others they quickly thin on the backside.

Heronatemygoldfish · 16/12/2021 13:10

Sitting here wearing Sturdy By Design winter leggings. I love them. They have recently started selling dark/plain coloured ones as well as their trademark wacky colours and they are really comfy. They are not the cheapest but I've not worn any out yet...

FourEyesGood · 16/12/2021 17:21

I tried Tikiboo based on recommendations here, but they don’t hold me in like my Sweaty Betty Power leggings do. Shame, because I like the patterns on the fabric, but I much prefer Powers.

tas7711 · 16/12/2021 17:23

I really like the black alphalux leggings from alphalete!

PurpleDaisies · 17/12/2021 08:38

There’s a Sweaty Betty sale on now… I’ve just ordered some power leggings for £37. I had an email from insiders with an early access link.

coogee · 17/12/2021 18:45

I have Gymshark Flex low rise in dark colours which meet your criteria.

Next time I might size up though as they are really tight at the ankles. I really struggle to get my feet through and I don't have hobbit feet.

EmmaStone · 20/12/2021 16:35

I've not bought another brand since trying Sweaty Betty, plus the leggings have been excellent quality - I've yet to retire a pair, and have been wearing them for years.

Squat proof isn't failsafe - I still need to try them out just in case. I always buy in the sales, and the winter sale has just started.

susan123 · 25/12/2021 23:11

Have a look at gym + coffee. I love their leggings and have every colour. You can usually get a discount code if you do a search.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 25/12/2021 23:13

Another Sweaty Betty fan here. Nothing matches their Power leggings

Mayvis · 26/12/2021 17:38

I really like Tikiboo or Matalan. Want to try Sweaty Betty too.

fishonabicycle · 26/12/2021 17:40

I've had a few bits from Gap in their sales - all been very good and lasted ages.

wishingitwasspring · 29/12/2021 12:02

M&S have the old good move leggings with the drawstring in their sale. None online but in the local shop they've loads.. just bought 3 pairs of size 12.. cropped and full length.

£11 a pair.

ShampooDoodle · 29/12/2021 12:06

Have a light on and bend over and see if you can see your knickers, the number of people who seem to forget that some leggings are see through! And some who ride bikes without underwear on
