Back to balance

Morning - I thought I'd start a thread as a bit of a diary for myself more than anything but would love anyone who wants to to join in too!

I'm getting back into a routine with exercise after a bit of time out. I exercised (what I can see now) was excessively for about 18 months, especially over lockdowns. Working out to high intensity, twice a day, every day for hours at a time. Running, spinning, weights, HIIT classes. At home I'd do YT videos back to back and when gyms were open I nearly lived there. I was extremely lean and had great muscle tone and ignored the fact that I'd become reliant on exercise mentally & physically. I was constantly tired and always had niggling injuries.

I had a miscarriage in the summer and since then my exercise routine has dropped right off - maybe twice a week which is a huge change for me. My shape has changed and I'm not unhappy about that, but I do miss having a regular routine and the mental health benefits of exercise. So from now I'm going to try and get back to doing something 4/5 times a week, not get carried away and do things I enjoy whilst giving myself enough recovery time. A happy balance!

To kick it off, this morning I did a circuit class and feel great! Felt sluggish when I woke up and it's first day of my period so was very tempted to go back to bed. Mixture of weights and cardio and a bit of core, really enjoyed it.
