Any runners switched from garmin to apple?

I’ve currently got a vivoactive 4s which I love, looks good and tracks runs accurately with music so no need for phone. Unfortunately it’s cracked so looking at options to replace, Any thoughts? Would probably replace current garmin with a venu vs Apple Watch.
The advantage Apple has is I could use the Watch as a phone without having it on me. (My phones huge and I run rurally so this would be attractive)
I’ve had some heart issues recently so HR tracking is a big focus for me, I see the new Apple Watch also does an ecg which is interesting. Anyone had both?

I had the garmin 245 and switched to Apple for the music/phone/messages. It’s ok, but can’t easily use a timer for doing intervals. Half wondering if I can justify both...

Yes, and I went back. Also had a phase of wearing both for running. Garmin just works better for running I find, and Apple is better as a smartwatch. It’s annoying.

Thanks both, I thought that may be the case.

No I am still with Garmin and quite happy - I have one with a HR monitor.

Ridiculously, I have both. Have used a garmin for running for a long time (good GPS, great for intervals) but the smart watch stuff is rubbish. I mainly run with just Apple Watch now, as I wear it all the time and am not properly training for anything, just run for fun. Plus, I have to track activity in my Apple Watch to get the points to pay for it (Vitality).

If/when I do a proper training plan with intervals for an event, I’ll use the Garmin and wear both. Feel like a idiot but it’s just easier.

Another one here who went from garmin (forerunner) to Apple but then switched back!

The apple was good for the gimmicks like music, no phone but it didn't have the sports watch features I needed.

DH has both.

He wears the Apple all the time as a smart watch, and then puts on the Garmin as well when he's running (better data, preferred features)
