Running jacket for a beginner

So I have started C25k this week. I have a wind proof running jacket and currently wearing a cotton long sleeved base. I am a cold bod and I am used to walking quite briskly so feeling quite cold on these parts of the programme. I warm up with the short runs and don’t want to overheat but struggling to step out the door with the thought of being cold.

So what should I be wearing? Any recommendations or advice to keep me going.

A hat that you can take off and put in your pocket and maybe gloves too (or a long top that has those thumb holes). Makes it that bit easier to get out but they can be tucked away easily enough once you warm up.

As it gets colder, I tend to wear a long sleeved technical top (so the sweat is wicked - cotton would make me colder), when really cold a tight (sports) vest top underneath as well, and then usually a sweatshirt. Gloves and an ear warmer band thing, and that's anough for me. I'm not sure I've ever managed to run with a coat.

Thank you. I am in the deep North so it does get quite cold I’m sure once I am going more running than walking I will cope without a coat. But it’s the walk run thing I am struggling to keep warm.

Definitely gloves and a headband/buff these make a massive difference to me!

Also try a running vest/body warmer type jacket to keep your core warm.

Merino wool tops! My dh swears by them. The branded ones are really expensive but Aldi often does them. Cool in summer, warm in winter and genuinely don't smell. He will happily go out a run or cycle with a wool t-shirt and long sleeve top in most weathers.

I wear running t-shirt & a running fleece in temperatures below 12 degrees. but I'm running continously so get warm quickly.

I'd get really cold in cotton. Technical sweat-wicking running top - either tee or LS. Decathlon do very reasonably priced ones. Then a zip up fleece or similar, with zippable pockets. Possibly thin running jacket in between. Buff/hat, thin beanie hat, gloves, can all be stuffed in pockets or running belt as you warm up, fleece tied round your waist. Decathlon Runwarm leggings if cold, two pairs if very cold Smile. In cold weather, I have to run door to door - no meeting friend for coffee post run as I get too cold once I start cooling down. Merino or other decent running socks that come up calves a bit. I don't run fast, and do really feel the cold.

I wear T-Shirt and track pant during my running workouts. I never wear gloves in my hand during my workouts.

Even good merino makes me itch. I’d go for a taped seam jacket. North face future light or similar.

DH has bought me the OMM Kamleika for Christmas but as it was snowing today he gave it to me for my run.

Oh my word, it was a revelation!!!!!!

I wear a long sleeve top with a hoody over that has the long sleeves with thumb holes, made of tech fabric. I sometimes put the hood up if my ears are cold, and take it down as I warm up. I can't stand more than this as I get very hot.
