Anyone else find working out in the morning is too hard on your body?

I can walk/ do treadmill or light cardio, but I find my body is far too stiff in the mornings to do anything that requires flexibility! I love yoga, but whenever I’ve tried doing it in the morning I find I can’t do nearly as much as I can normally in the evenings.

I recently tried a dance workout on YouTube in the morning and I made my back ache for days afterwards despite not feeling at the time like it was too hard.

I’ve always been like this so I don’t think it’s an age thing, although it’s probably getting worse. Anyone the same and found a solution? I think I’d find it easier to fit in more exercise if I could workout first thing.

I’m the same, but the more you exercise in the morning, hopefully the more accustomed your body will become.

What has helped me is finding a really good warm up on YouTube that although takes a bit longer, definitely makes it easier when it comes to exercising and stops the sore stiff joints later!

I'd listen to your body and exercise at a time that is good for you. I exercise at 2 or 2.30 pm every day - late enough so I'm warned up and early enough so I still have energy (with the added benefit that I don't eat a big lunch beforehand - although I realise that's an awkward time for most. It very much suits me though. Do you get a lunch hour at work?

I work from home now, when I used to be in the office I used to enjoy the gym at lunch to break up the day but now I’d rather morning or evening. It’s weird really, even a nice hot shower doesn’t seem to loosen me up enough!

I'm ok with yoga in the morning but can't do any cardio. I just feel like I have no energy to push through it.

Glad I’m not alone though!

A friend of mine found turmeric tea first thing (made with actual turmeric, not just a bag) made a huge difference to this problem.
