One woman has home gym and will do at least one session and then play and 18 hole round of golf or go for a mega walk.
It’s always the same people. Why would anyone want to look at photos of people sweating?

Morning everyone! Sorry I've been absent for a while. I have been keeping on with Caroline though, on Epic Heat Week 5 Day 3 today...I''ve only missed one workout - Tabata HIIT and wondering whether I should use tomorrow's rest day to do it?

I was feeling very sleek last week, even wore a pair of leather leggings (that I've never been able to do up before) with a silk shirt half tucked and thought that my belly looked pretty good considering I'm an apple shape and have a c section pouch. This week I'm back to feeling pudgy...not sure why really.

I am definitely stronger though, yesterday's Super Set Upper Body workout involved endless push ups and I managed nearly 10 in a row! Still struggling with tricep pushups though.

Itsnotdeep · 10/11/2021 10:32

They have some really good home gyms! There was a post yesterday on how people store their weights. Mine are all lined up in my bedroom!

I ended up not doing any CG yesterday - had my covid booster and my arm was too painful and I was exhausted. (in my defence I did a yoga class before I was jabbed). On it today hopefully although had to ditch yoga due to the arm too.

Itsnotdeep · 10/11/2021 10:33

I can do a whole 10 pushups now too @ladybranstonpickle ! Go us!

BigButtons · 10/11/2021 15:13

Day 50 EMOM done!
I did have to do some of the modifications and the push ups were on my knees. It was rough but I quite like that format.
I think it suits me better to do hiit midweek. I have much more energy than when I am suffering the excesses of too much red wine on a Sunday! Morning.
2 more work outs to compete this week now.

OP posts:
Melassa · 10/11/2021 17:17

Well done on the EMOM. I actually find it not too bad and race the clock to max my rest time. So near the end, you must be super chuffed!

I did day 33 today (still way behind), not keen on those dead stop lunges and stopped at 6/8 for a longer rest. I’m beginning to find the legs a bit repetitive, between rdls and lunges of varying flavours. I do wish she’d introduce something else to vary it a bit.

Itsnotdeep · 10/11/2021 17:46

Day 44 Full Body workout for me. I did use lighter weights because my arm is still sore from the jab and I'm tired. But pleased I did it.

I agree @Melassa the leg workouts are repetitive. I can't even do the lunges properly so usually stick a squat or an RDL in there instead.

BigButtons · 10/11/2021 20:42

The leg work is repetitive that’s why I love the iso/plyo leg day earlier on in heat as it is really different from the others.
Well a few hours after the EMOM and I can barely walk! Must be all those lunges and squats- didn’t seem too awful at the time……

@ladybranstonpickle, I had the same feeling around week 7 or 8 of Heat Smile - I felt amazing and that I looked slimmer. Then for the last few weeks I've felt bigger again... But I do think it must be all in my mind and perception Grin

@Melassa, I really wish I'd taken photos before. I didn't. I do have some photos of me in sports gear from the summer - I might did those out and see if I notice any differences. There MUST be a difference - I've worked too hard for this Grin

If I could cut down on sugar and carbs then it would make a huge difference to my tummy....which is the really wobbly bit. But I just can't commit to that haha.

ladybranstonpickle · 11/11/2021 12:00

Morning gang! Wow last night's Antagonist Leg Day was really tough! Had to pause a few times....considering it was meant to be a 'slow and steady' workout it was really quite hard. I really don't like bulgarian lunges at all, but I shall keep on with them. I think part of my struggle is that the dining chairs are too high, so I'm using the sofa, but then it's squishy and I never know whether to lay my foot flat on its top or on the ball of my foot?

UglyModernWindows · 11/11/2021 14:02

Well done @BigButtons!!! You've done it!! whoop whoop!!!

Once my Epic Heat is finished, I'm thinking of trying out the Calisthenics two week series. Or the Beastmode.

@Itsnotdeep 10 pushups!! Whaaat?? That's bloody amazing!

I don't like supersets either, too long.

I did take pics before I embarked the CG workouts. I used a ridiculous bikini on them though, don't know why I thought that was a good idea.

I also re-joined on one of the CG FB groups couple of weeks ago but deleted it on the same day Grin. So many pics of sweaty faces Hmm which I find really bleurgh. I hate it, can't help it. I hated the Peloton tv add too as it had a bloody close up of someone sweating their face out. Yuk.

I eat low carb but have been doing it over a year now. It really suits me. For me cutting out carbs have really got rid of my belly flab and bloating.

Itsnotdeep · 11/11/2021 18:34

I spoke too soon. I can do about 6push ups. Day 46 of Epic 3 is JUST pushups (with about 5 ab exercises thrown in at the end). Sooooo boring. Just really really uninspiring

And one day I hope I can do a tricep push up right to the bottom (well I can, I just can't get back again). Onto day 47 for me.

UglyModernWindows · 12/11/2021 13:59

@Itsnotdeep Well if it's any consolation, I can do 0-3 pushups at any one time Grin

EH day 45 done this morning. It was a dumbell hiit and I nearly skipped it but glad I didn't as it was actually quite enjoyable. I had to modify the jumps and I took it at my own pace though.

BigButtons · 12/11/2021 15:03

I am about to do day 49 full body. I am not too scared as I have already done day 50!
I am scared about the day 48 push up only day I have to do at the weekend to complete the series. Not quite sure how that is going to work as my max on the toes push ups is 10 and that is before any other kind of arm work🧐.

OP posts:
BigButtons · 12/11/2021 16:49

Blimey- 3 minute complexes. My heart rate was more elevated doing those than it was with the EMOM! I did think I might actually be sick during the last complex. It also started with makers😱

OP posts:
Melassa · 12/11/2021 22:27

Starts with makers? What fresh hell is that? Shock
@Itsnotdeep I still can’t do a tricep push up and the only way I manage to get right down is if I collapse. That and the skull crushers push ups. I can do a regular push up, however, I even got to quite a few reps several weeks ago, but since then I seem to have regressed and struggle to get past 12 without a rest. In some if CG sessions I can barely do 2 as she plonks them on the end.

I did day 34 Heat, the pyramid one. Nuff said. Especially the push up one, ugh. Of course everyone started talking and asking questions while I was doing it, so I got my rests and exercise periods muddled up and ended up doing more reps one side than the other, so I will probably have one leg more muscly than the other.

Does everyone else count the reps so they’re sure to do the same number both sides? Or is it just me who is fixated with it?

BigButtons · 12/11/2021 23:45

@Melassa yes - 3 minutes of makers and something else hideous. 🧐

OP posts:
Melassa · 13/11/2021 10:45

I’m pretty sure they’re getting more hideous the further we go. I should be doing day 35 today but I’m contemplating putting off until tomorrow. I got up hideously early for a weekend and have already been for a bracing walk. Or maybe I should just bite the bullet and take a day off tomorrow instead. Decision decisions

BigButtons · 13/11/2021 11:07

@Melassa I don’t count reps- I try and match her and let her do the work for me😂.
I could actually manage 7kg for the shoulder presses yesterday- still can’t get past 5kg for the flies though.
I should have listened more closely during her intro. She talked about trying not to drop the weight on the floor and keeping holding it. “Why would I drop the weight on the floor?” I asked myself. I soon got my answer😂

FlowerArranger · 13/11/2021 14:20

Ah, found you all again!! Despite Mumsnet's best efforts to hide the Exercise sub-forum...

A month ago I was in peak shape.
90 minutes workouts daily.
Using 12 lb weights
Plus daily Growingannanas HIIT - bring it on.
Solid abs.
Thighs ditto.

Since then I've had 3 eye surgeries.
Not allowed to exercise, obviously.
I feel so, so weak and depleted.
How can one go from peak form to this in such a short space of time?!!

I'm hoping my surgeon will clear me for some form of exercise when I see her next week, but I expect I won't be allowed to jump about or lift heavy weights for a while yet.

Sorry if I seem to invite you all to a woe is me pity party, but when you're in your 60s, like me, mole hills can easily turn into mountains! I need to get in shape for the skiing season, which starts in 2 weeks Shock

Melassa · 13/11/2021 14:23

Don’t you worry about doing one side more than the other and ending up “unbalanced” (as in a bigger thigh one side than the other)?

Well done on your 7kg shoulder presses, I got up to 8kg then went back down to 6kg as couldn’t manage many reps at all with the 8s.

Wimped out of HIIT today, took a peek and she mentioning starting off with burpees. I am not feeling like burpees today at all, but I will do it tomorrow.

BigButtons · 13/11/2021 19:43

@ I think it would takes years of heavily unbalanced work to make any significant difference

OP posts:
BigButtons · 13/11/2021 19:46

@FlowerArranger was going to put a cal out for you. So glad you found us. Bummer about your surgery you poor thing. How frustrating for you. You won’t have lost too much though even though it might feel like it.
The most important thing is that you recover properly ❤️❤️

BigButtons · 14/11/2021 12:53

Push up day done- heat now finished.
I tried my best to stay on my toes and not drop to my knees- sometimes I had to though- especially with the tricep ones.
In each 20 second burst I did about 5 one the toes push ups
The standard push ups which came every 5th set were a blessed relief.
I was determined to do it- I hate push ups but now I find I am so much stronger that I did manage most of it, I'm sure with terrible form and not much depth, but I did it( sort of). The uneven ones, pikes and skull crushers were actually the 'easiest' of all I found.
Have a great Sunday everyone.
Will be tempo week for me next week.

OP posts:
Itsnotdeep · 14/11/2021 13:03

Well done @BigButtons ! Is that your second set of CG?

I have day 48 to do today - missed it yesterday as I wasn't well. I've done a couple of astanga classes too over the weekend which I love. I was trying to put in some tricep type push ups into my chataranga.
