@Itsnotdeep I wish I could do more stretchy/ relaxing yoga but I can never settle into it. I do like the way it relaxes me though if I manage to stick with it. What sort of yoga did you do?

Actually I love the restorative kind. It's just really nurturing and relaxing. But I don't do it often - I do either Vinyasa flow or Astanga. It's hard, but I love it. I have one sort of restorative class a week, but she's been away so it's been replaced with a really tough class.

Astanga for the next 2 days which is great. I really sweat.

The point for me is that it's all restorative because i get to leave the house and because it's hard, I have to concentrate on it, and me. And it's a bonus that it works your core, and glutes and shoulders and all the stuff Caroline loves too.

Itsnotdeep · 31/12/2021 19:16

(I find the hard stuff relaxing too! You just concentrate on your breakthing and yourself and it's great. And the really sexy yoga teacher complimented my "fantastic shoulders" the other week. So that's a bonus too

BigButtons · 01/01/2022 11:24

@Itsnotdeep thanks for the info. I do follow yoga with Kassandra on you tube. I’ll see if she has some more lively sessions. Just so hard to fit it all in. Perhaps I could do one on an active rest day. I don’t actually do active rest days- just rest days😂😂. I find 5 CG sessions a week is my max but active yoga might be good to do.

Happy new year everyone!😍

Happy New Year Girvanites or whatever we are called 🤣 I've been working through Epic 3 in my own way and did Day 3 this morning. It was abs & glutes circuits. There was a circuit of thrusts but I am learning to enjoy those a bit more. It was quite hard and even CG herself was struggling towards the end!

Will go for a run tomorrow all ready for the Endgame to start on Monday.

MarisPiper92 · 01/01/2022 14:50

Happy new year! I'm still lurking, starting Heat on Monday after doing most of Epic 3. Also planning to do 30 Days of Yoga, as a tonic to all the thrusting. Hope everyone had a good night.

StrikingMatches · 02/01/2022 21:36

I was about to start a new thread and then found this one.

Who is starting Endgame tomorrow? I finished Epic 3, Beastmode and the kettlebell series but didn't do the Advent Calendar. This is after doing the Joe Wicks 90 day plan and Grad plan in 2020/21.

Can't wait for Endgame but I really need to sew up my mouth and sort my eating out if it's going to have the effect I want!

Who's in for a little mutual support???

BigButtons · 02/01/2022 21:56

@StrikingMatches yep i’m starting it tomorrow. I’ve done most of epic one, heat, the advent, beast mode and tempo. Very excited!

@BigButtons excellent!! I'm really looking forward to it. I know it only matters to me but it really helps me to stay on track. Do you do the work outs on the gym or at home? I do both but mainly have it done in the morning after the school run.

Anjelika · 02/01/2022 22:34

I'm in for Endgame! So pleased the workouts are only going to be 30-40 mins long. Makes it easier to fit into everyday life. Will be doing Day 1 tomorrow morning.

BigButtons · 03/01/2022 00:29

@StrikingMatches this is the second CG thread. I started the first on last summer as I was finding it so hard.’it’s been so great to check in on here and give each other encouragement and report in.
I work out at home- no gym membership.
I tend to do mine in the afternoons 🙂

Itsnotdeep · 03/01/2022 10:09

I've switched to morning workouts (which is easy with no work or school run Hmm. Day 1 Endgame done. Plus the add on Halo

BigButtons · 03/01/2022 10:55

@Itsnotdeep just done day one. Was a piece of cake compared to the bloody lunge day in epic 1Hmm
I liked the finisher that was tough!
What’s the add on? Might do that later.
Going out for lunch today so have definitely earned that this morning!
Back to school tomorrow so will return to pm workouts unless I am prepared to get up super early. I can’t move until I have been up for about an hour and had loads of tea though😂

Itsnotdeep · 03/01/2022 11:04

Yes I have to have 2 coffees before I can work out. I'll have to actually set my alarm if I want to work out before school. I'm not quite sure I can do that, but it does feel good to know you've got your workout out of the way for the day.

I bailed on the all the squats and did a thigh workout instead. The add on is an ab one which I really enjoyed. No weights.

BigButtons · 03/01/2022 11:07

@Itsnotdeep I liked the challenge of the squats. Seriously that day 7 leg day is so bad that if you can do that you know that nothing can be as awful! I will do it periodically just to reset.

OP posts:
Anjelika · 03/01/2022 13:01

I was quite enjoying today's until that finisher - paused A LOT to get that done!

StrikingMatches · 03/01/2022 14:02

I quite enjoyed Day 1. I thought there was zero chance of me completing the 100 squats after the first 10 but surprisingly managed them not too far behind CG! My legs are going to be so sore tomorrow. I might do the add on later before bed, I didn't even realise there were add ons until halfway through Epic 3 🙄 xx

Melassa · 03/01/2022 14:28

Hello all! I’m back and fully planning to do day 1 of the new Epic shortly. I was out this morning on my bike to get to an appointment and I got so cold despite furious pedalling I had to have a ton of hot soup and hot tea to warm up. Currently under the covers waiting to digest so I can start CG. Although 100 squats? With weights? What’s that about?

BigButtons · 03/01/2022 15:52

@Melassa no weights for the 100 squats

Hi, I’ve been following this thread for awhile and started epic 1 after reading about it here. Finished it on the 28th so planning to start endgame later today. I usually manage 3/4 workouts a week so will fall behind quite soon but looking forward to completing it almost live. I like the sound of 30-40min sessions as I struggled to fit in the longer ones towards the end of epic I.

Melassa · 03/01/2022 19:05

Finished day 1, not too bad and I was chuffed I was only 2kg behind CG’s weights. The 100 squats at the end weren’t as bad as they sounded, luckily they were the heel raised ones which I don’t find as challenging as a regular squat. I think me knees would have given out with a reg squat.

It was odd going back to 40 mins after a month of 20 minutes, getting to the 50% mark seemed interminable. After that it all sped up, thankfully.

Anyway, off to pour myself a wine, everyone is out so a lovely evening of not having to cook, yippee!

fishonabicycle · 03/01/2022 19:11

No workout today (we did an upper body circuit yesterday) as we went to BILs for a family meal and drink, and were a bit overtired! Just went for a little walk in the mud!

BigButtons · 04/01/2022 07:28

@Melassa I am always trying to work out what weights to use. For today she is using 17.5 kg for the chest- I don’t even own anything that heavy! I can go up to 11 so will try that.
She is using 6 for the shoulders I could do 5 but these are minute long sets so I think I will drop to 4🙂

OP posts:
Melassa · 04/01/2022 10:29

@BigButtons I saw the weights for the chest presses and there’s no way I can even get near, 8kg is my limit. For the shoulders I can do 6kg for shoulder presses etc but am still on the 3kg for lateral raises. I might try to move up to 4kg. I’ll be doing 3 for the skull crushers too as 1 min is a long time and my wrists suffer!

Off to do a few errands, I will do day 2 when I get back later.
