Reflective gear

Now that it's dark in the mornings, I have bought myself a reflective gillet and borrow dh's headlamp when I go running.

The gillet is excellent as far as reflective gear goes but I felt too warm and my T-shirt was absolutely drenched in sweat after a 9 mile run at around 12-14C.

Should I get some armbands? A reflective belt? Some sleeves with reflective bits or just a flourescent top with reflective stripes that sort of thing? The gillet is great but I think I'll use it when it drops to less than 9C or something like that.

Thanks.

I recently bought a hi-viz yellow running T-shirt (from Provizsports.com) and I feel much more secure when running at 5.30am in the dark. It’s bright yellow with a few reflective bits on.
Since trying that one, I’ve also bought a long-sleeved running top from them with really bright sleeves (under car headlights). This one: www.provizsports.com/en-gb/reflect360-womens-long-sleeve-top.html

They sent me a code for 20% off, which apparently anyone can use. 20FORYOU

I’m aware I sound like I work for them, but I really don’t! I was just impressed by the reflectiveness of the tops and the fact that they don’t feel like hi-viz stuff when I’m running in them; they just feel like normal running tops with good wicking.

Meant to add - I used to wear a reflective harness but find the plastic buckles annoying. They used to bash against my chest.

Thanks @FourEyesGood. I actually have a Proviz T-shirt sitting in my Amazon basket but I've been hesitant about completing the transaction. Thank you also for the code, that would help a lot.

I've got a few options, a mesh vest, a short and long sleeved t-shirt and a neon jacket.

I like LED armbands for the dark/ particularly dull conditions although my chest torch has a red light at the back so covers that too.

I love running off road in the dark and think Proviz stuff is really worth the money. I use a silver/grey gillet, a neck gaiter it’s really cold, and one of their light up arm bands (on an ankle though). Got some sleeves too but don’t wear them so often because I’m a bit of a sweaty betty. I also use a chest light rather than head light (has a red light on the back so feels a bit safer to me than just a head light). Am 100% certain the whole outfit looks ridiculous, but I think I’m quite easy to see!

If you are happy with a few cheap and cheerful items to keep you going, Poundland have a good few bits.
I have several of the high Viz/fluorescent mesh vests stashed around my house and car glove box 🤓

@FourEyesGood I've been looking at those Proviz tops. How is the sizing? I'm not sure if I'm better off with a mens small or my size 10? I don't like any sort of clingy fit. It's hard to tell from the pictures if they're slim fit or standard.

FourEyesGood · 16/10/2021 09:40

I sized up in the long-sleeved one because the reviews mentioned it being quite tight-fitting. I’m a 14 (sometimes 16) and ordered a 16. It’s loose enough to be comfortable, but I wish the sleeves were slightly slimmer in the forearms because it feels a bit as if they flap about when I run - but only slightly.
The short-sleeved T-shirt is roomy, which I wanted.
Definitely take a look at the reviews for each of the products; they seem pretty accurate when describing sizing.

I've got a long sleeved top from proviz. It is tight in the arms so I can't push them up like I do with other tops when I get warm. I'd probably go for the next size up if I got one from them again.

I also have a running jacket from them that I love but can only wear on the coldest of days. Great for on my bike though. The whole thing lights up.

Get them all! I have proviz long sleeved and short sleeved top, leggings with reflective dots (Aldi a few years ago), head torch which I wear over a buff turned into a beanie and had reflective stripes, led arm bands and a blue flashing clip on light which goes on the band of the head torch.

I can both see (head-torch) and be seen.

I run rurally at night.

Oh and I think my elastic laces are reflective.

I've been on a quest to find the best reflective gear for my early morning runs, and I recently stumbled upon Reflectoes. Their Reflective Jacket has been a game-changer for me. It's not just another piece of high-visibility clothing; it's thoughtfully designed with the safety of runners and cyclists in mind.

The jacket's reflective material is incredibly effective under car headlights, making me feel much safer during my 5:30 am jogs.

What's even more exciting is that Reflectoes is currently having a Black Friday sale. This is a great opportunity to grab their high-quality gear at a discounted price. I highly recommend checking out their reflective jacket
