Best exercise for toned stomach

whatisforteamum · 12/10/2021 13:10

I am slim and walk everywhere. Recently decided to buy a kettle weight and mat and have been doing sit ups and moving the weight side to side to increase stomach muscles starting gradually of course.
Any tips I can try to get a more toned tum.
I am 55.

My rock hard abs have been down to yoga would you believe?!

I started it during the first lockdown & do 3 YouTube videos a week, sometimes I only have time for a quick 20 min one, you wouldn’t believe how much of a workout yoga can be.
My arms and legs are ridiculously toned now too!

Yoga with Kassandra is my favourite, she has loads of videos for everything from strength to relaxation

I’m not quite up to strength to do Hannah Barrett workouts but I’m working on it!

My abs of steel are down to
pull ups
box jumps
hollow holds

and generally back squats with heavy weights.

Yoga gives me much better definition in the ab area than other types of higher intensity exercises.

Les Mills core - ab blast

RelentlessForwardProgress · 25/10/2021 18:36

I used to do sit ups of the pulse variety, with not much range of movement. I have found the type they do in crossfit, starting with hands extending high above your head and then all the way up and over to your feet much, much more effective

I've also found to be brilliant for core strength once I got over the initial fear I was going to crash down on my face!.

I have good abs from pilates.

Toe taps for lower abs and table top holds.
Lots of variations of sit up
Planks
Roll ups and hold
