Can you get away without padded shorts on a 45 minute indoor studio cycle ride?

I don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing padded shorts on the spin bikes

LegendaryReady · 31/08/2021 14:16

Agree, very few people wear padded shorts.

You will undoubtedly feel a bit tender after the first session but somehow your bits soon toughen up.

gremLynn · 01/09/2021 19:22

I've been wearing mine for Spin but nobody would know they are padded 🤷🏻‍♀️
You can also wear them under leggings, which I do when I go out for rides on my bike

ivykaty44 · 01/09/2021 21:47

yes, the saddles are fine on most spin bikes

EmmaStone · 01/09/2021 23:32

We have a spin bike, and I do Peloton classes on it. No padded shorts. The first few rides were a bit tender, but then my undercarriage clearly toughened up, and it's no problem now.

gremLynn · 02/09/2021 08:15

I've been to Spin without them, but it's a little bit more comfortable when I wear them. But without is fine

Pemmican · 02/09/2021 08:17

You'd be all right in my spin class which seems to consist almost entirely of standing at 90rpm Hmm

Queenoftheashes · 02/09/2021 08:17

Yes I don’t own padded shorts. It does hurt the first time though.

supercycle · 02/09/2021 11:26

Thanks for all the helpful comments. Will give it a go and see how I get on

You’ll be fine, I invested in padded shorts after doing classes on consecutive days and the second day was rather tender!! The seats are like razors on ours!

idontlikealdi · 02/09/2021 16:25

You won't be sitting that much!

supercycle · 06/09/2021 12:06

For those of you who don't wear padded shorts for spin can I ask what you do wear?

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 06/09/2021 12:44

Normal cropped leggings or cycling type shorts if not wearing padded ones.

SkinnyMirror · 06/09/2021 12:46

No padded shorts here! Just normal gym clothes.
I have a spin bike at home and do peloton classes most days. The first week was a little uncomfortable but you soon get used to it!

Thanks for all your responses. Will have to experiment and see what works best for me.
