10k in 2 weeks- any last minute tips

I'm running a 10k in 2 weeks. I've done it twice before (3 and 5 years ago) so I know the route. I don't feel as fit as I did last time and haven't really been training specifically for it, just back from a 4.5 mile run this morning.
I'm aiming for 55 minutes but really anything under 1 hour will be fine.

Any last minute tips, including what to eat in the last 24 hours? The run is at 9.45 am.

If it was me I'd have a big tea the night before, more carb heavy than usual, and just coffee the morning of the race. I wouldn't completely taper, but I'd have a rest day the day before the race. Warm up on the day with a few strides. And good luck!

Pizza and sweeties count as carb loading

Just saying!

I'll be cycling there (2 miles downhill mostly) so that's my warm up. I don't think I can run 5k, never mind 10k on an empty stomach!

Fortunately, in terms of running, forecast for the next couple of weeks isn't that hot but the most important thing is to make sure you hydrate properly the day before. There's a limited amount you can drink on the morning with a 9:45 start and not risk missing the starting gun because you're queuing for a portaloo.

Other than that, carbs the night before but don't introduce anything new. Ultimately, for a 10k you'll have sufficient glycogen stored to get you round so as long as you don't eat something that upsets your stomach you should be fine.

Thanks Morgan . Yes I think no wine on Saturday night is a good idea and only one coffee first thing on Sunday.

Pre-run nerves often see me heading for the portaloo, so I definitely don't need another reason!
