Anyone do team sports?

I'm looking into starting back at a team sport but live out in the sticks so proving difficult in terms of travel.

What sports do other people do and did you feel like a numpty turning up for the first time? I worry there could be two outcomes where either everyone is my age but extremely good having played since school or more concerning, the 'senior' club will all be 15 year olds Blush

I play hockey, I really wouldn't worry about it every club I have played for has been incredibly welcoming, after all they want you to play and also have teams of all different standards. My club members ages ranged from 13 (when your allowed to Start playing adult league) and 72.

That sounds promising @Fartymcfart I caught some of the Olympics hockey games and it looked quite fun but really hard! I don't think I'd be able to hit the ball.

Look for a back to hockey near you, it's set for people who haven't played before or since school, quite a few clubs run them

There are a lot of back to netball courses running all over the place which mostly feed into Fun Leagues. Or you could try something totally different like Korfball or Handball which will be very used to new players.

Came on to say Netball as well. I'm 41, I play and coach Netball. There are netball teams for all ages and abilities around the UK. There is a great social side to netball as well!

Looking up back to hockey and netball sessions and can't find any near me but that would be ideal! I appear to live in a deadzone for absolutely everything but hopefully they will get running again soon.

Although I do remember being terrible at netball as I would start daydreaming midgame Grin

It's a shame there are fewer options to do team sports for women. I don't really want to go to the gym and I find running a bit dull so never bother beyond 5 km. I remember PE was rubbish at school, whereas boys often go to football outside of school where it's possibly more fun so they keep that up into adulthood. For girls there aren't so many team sports as after school clubs so fewer learn the skills to keep it up into adulthood.

Sorry my mind wanders Grin
