Stroller for jogging advice

Hi, I have a mini and need to get a lightweight stroller for my 12 month old which takes up very little space, is all terrain, but also that I could jog with. Does such a thing exist? I’m happy to pay a decent price for a decent buggy, and I don’t need one that adapts for two children or is car seat compatible etc. Just performs well in the park, in Tesco, and doesn't crowd my boot. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Tia xx

I don’t think something like that exists tbh! I have a mini too and while it’s great the boot size is a complete pain! We have an older mountain buggy and can use it running with the front wheel locked (unsure as to whether possible with the newer ones) and it’s great but an absolute beast so I can’t imagine it fitting in the boot. What type of mini is your car? As I believe some models like the countryman and clubman have bigger boots than say the Cooper so may be more accommodating.

The swift might fit as it folds smaller (we have an urban jungle) and also the City Mini GT could too. Though I don’t think you can run with them! Maybe something like a bugaboo bee and then a bugaboo runner for running could work? I believe with adaptors for the runner they can use the same seat.

It's quite a few years since I was using pushchairs (youngest is 6), but I had a Baby Jogger Summit XC.

Things might have moved on since then but it's worth seeing if the equivalent today would fit in your mini.

It's big, but the wheels came off relatively easily. The main seat chassis then went quite flat and it might fit in the mini's boot (without parcel shelf) and the wheels could go elsewhere in the car.

I've no idea if it will fit and I don't know what's available nowadays but it's worth checking out to see if it would work.

I used to fit a out n about nipper 360 in my 03 plate fiesta. I could fit it in with wheels on, on its side with parcel shelf removed.

Thank you so much for this.
Yes, the BJ Summit is amazing, but as bulky as my Phil & Ted. I have an eye on the mini GT as it looks gorgeous. Hadn’t thought about the nipper, thank you. Think I’ll take a trip to John Lewis and mess about with their display 😆

Thank you all for your suggestions, I’m very grateful xx

I have the City Mini GT and I admit I have run with it. You're not supposed to, but I have found it okay, although I only run with it on smooth pavement and wouldn't want to run on any other terrain. I later bought the Out n About Nipper Sport (V4). The difference is insane. It makes jogging a million times easier. However, it's very large and takes up a lot of space. That said, I could get the single version into my tiny little Hyundai i10. I have the double version now and it doesn't fit anywhere!

It's not small by any means but the out and about nipper sport is great for running with. With all the wheels off it would go in a Ford fiesta boot.

surreygirl1987 · 04/06/2021 07:21

Oh yes I should have said, I had to take the front wheel off too 😁 only takes a moment though. Amazing for running with!

As an aside, a friend of mine has run a sub 18min parkrun with an Out and About Nipper Sport. So they're definitely good for running with (though can't say how much the toddler enjoyed it?!)

BigShock45 · 04/06/2021 10:44

Haha, brilliant. Thank you. I’ll have to take a test drive with the city mini and nipper. I wonder if the sales person will panic when I start removing wheels and shoving them in my boot 😆

The Out n About Nipper sport is awesome. You can hire it from Kids Bike Trailer as a Try before you Buy!
