Has anybody had Covid and can share if/how your exercise was affected afterwards?
It really worries me that I'd have a setback

I have a friend who had covid the end of last year and only just starting to feel a bit better during exercise. They would start coughing during a run and couldn't go as fast as before. Still not back to 100% over 4 months later.

This really worries me. I exercise daily, running a few times a week, and I am dreading catching Covid and being unable to keep this up afterwards

It was fine for me. I took a few days off the bike (racing cyclist) but never actually felt that ill. I never had the elevated heart rate and drop in power I get with a cold. I’ve had to take more time off, been much more poorly and had much bigger setbacks with fairly innocuous colds. My legs didn’t feel very strong for a few weeks, it was an odd feeling. I was completely back to normal within about 4 weeks.

DP took a week off his bike with a similar recovery to mine.

The key (as with any illness at all) is to listen to your body, take time off as needed, then return gradually and increase intensity when you feel ready. Focus on plenty of rest, good diet, gentle immune system stimulation to raise your head rate a bit (like short walks) and lots of water. There’s not really any point worrying about it anymore than any other illness or acquiring an injury.

I had COVID in December and was unwell for about two weeks, then took another two to feel normal ish.

I was back to exercising after six weeks. I still had a very mild cough then but took it slowly and was fine.

Definitely listen to your body, I was DESPERATE to get back to exercising but after looking it up online took it slower and am pleased I did.
