Running shorts with pockets

I am a fan of SB power leggings, they have excellent pockets for my phone and a zip one for keys. I'd love to eventually wear shorts. I'm thinking the power short, they are like a cycling short but are high waisted. The negative is they are 55quid and I do not know IRL anyone who has a pair to ask do they like them.
Any suggestions on your holy grail of running short? They do not need to be tight but my bum must be covered!
I'd like pocket(s), ideally high waisted but most importantly not cheek skimming short🤣 I am 168cm and a size 10UK and 40years old.
Many thanks.

Fabletics. I recommend them all the time on here, I promise I don't work for them...

Brilliant, thank you. They look the job. Is the sizing accurate @idontlikealdi?

These trail shorts from Decathlon have great pockets front and back if you need to take more than just a phone (water, keys etc)

SSwimCycle21 · 07/04/2021 21:51

Try element karbon they have just got shorts, added to their range. I’ve got their leggings they are really comfy.

trilbydoll · 07/04/2021 21:53

Another vote for the decathlon trail running range. More pockets than you could ever need and a drawstring to keep them up.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 08/04/2021 00:17

Yes to the Decathlon trail shorts. I've even been wearing mine over leggings, because they are better than a running belt.

AuntieStella · 09/04/2021 20:09

Decathlon every time

Best VFM there is, excellent quality, squat proof/don't go see through, drawstring and brilliant pockets

Mrsmchammer · 10/04/2021 00:52

Thank you. I absolutely love Decathlon tops (MN find also) so the shorts might be a winner.

I’ve just bought the Decathlon shorts linked above and also the baggier style here

I love their £4.99 v-neck tshirts too.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 12/04/2021 11:13

@AnnPerkins those are the ones I have - I didn't click on the previous link so didn't realise it was the tight ones that had been recommended by the PP.

emmathedilemma · 12/04/2021 16:24

Flanci have a thigh pocket in their leggings and shorts. I'm same height as you and a generous 10 on the bottom half and wear a size small. www.flanciactivewear.co.uk/

AnnPerkins · 13/04/2021 09:57

@DietrichandDiMaggio I wanted the capris but the waistband is far too low for me, don't know why they did that.

Do you put a folding water bottle in the back pocket? I'm hoping I can use that instead of a camelbak. My friend wore one on Sunday and the sloshing drove me half mad!

emmathedilemma · 13/04/2021 10:03

@AnnPerkins you need to suck the air out of the water bladder to stop the camelbak sloshes! Fill it then turn it upside down and suck until water starts coming through. It makes a huge difference.

AnnPerkins · 13/04/2021 12:32

Thanks @emmathedilemma I'll tell my friend!

I think I would still prefer not to wear one, I get hot enough as it is without having something on my back. The pockets on the straps look really handy though so I could still be tempted by a small one.

emmathedilemma · 13/04/2021 13:47

I really like my running backpacks, wouldn't be without them! Much prefer it to having things round my waist and in pockets. Also handy for local running trips to the post office, chemist etc!

Mrsmchammer · 13/04/2021 16:07

A running backpack is going to be one of my next purchases after the shorts @emmathedilemma. Turns out parking is being scaled back at my work so I'll try and run the 5km there on weekdays and will need to carry uniforms, lunches etc.

I'll crawl home after 14 hours🤣

I'm loving the M&S range of leggings and shorts at the moment, they have a few different designs of double layer shorts at the moment with cycling shorts built into running shorts and they have zip pockets.

They stay up well, have internal drawstrings for extra stayupability and the leggings have the thigh and waistband pocket.

Chocolateteabag · 13/04/2021 18:01

@AnnPerkins - I have the baggier Decathlon trail shorts - you can fit a 250ml soft flask into the front or the back zip pocket
(only linked the cycle short ones as the OP was looking at SWB cycle shorts)
I also have this running vest thingy which you can put the soft flasks into which are then less sloshy

Basically I like to have everything I might need on me at all times - but I can't carry a handbag Grin

AnnPerkins · 13/04/2021 19:59

Ooh that looks interesting Chocolateteabag. Although I quite like the idea of a running handbag 👜😂

My holy grail is mens running shorts I bought in charity shop. Pockets, long, comfortable, bargain, socially sourced. Replacements often available. Everything to like
