Running with AirPods, do they stay in?

I’ve been gifted some money and am thinking of treating myself to a pair of AirPods but will they stay in when I go running?

I've not used them for long runs but I do wear them to the gym and I run on the treadmill to warm up and they have never fallen out.

Mine fell out this morning! Normally seem ok so maybe I didn’t have them in quite right. Son who runs lots picked a different brand that had excellent reviews for running but not sure what they are.

I tend to wear a headband over mine just to make sure

OverByYer · 06/04/2021 13:58

Hmm I think I’d be nervous about losing tthem. Headband is a good idea

I've had mine for a few years now, not had any problems running in them (or any other exercise). The only time there's been an issue is if I try to take a jumper off while wearing them! But I suspect you need the right kind of ears, so best to check they fit before investing. DH has some Beats wireless ones with hooks that go over the ears, but I can't get them into/on my ears at all, and struggle with the syncing of them too.

Thanks for the replies. I think I’ll get them as I will use them for other things as well as exercise

I haven't tried AirPods but I've had issues with other wireless earphones falling out when running and I found the beats hook over ear kind really uncomfortable. I now have an over ear hook pair from Jlab that are really comfortable and don't budge.

Mine don’t even stay in when I’m sat at my desk, they take it in turns to just pop out and fly across the top! It definitely depends on ear shape!

sanityisamyth · 06/04/2021 17:43

Mine stay in fine (apart from the jumper removal issue as mentioned earlier). They also stay in pretty well for my DS7 which means we can go running together from one phone (as long as he stays near me!)

The AirPod Pros have rubber ends and they stay put in my ears while running - I was a bit worried about them but I've not had to give them a second thought. I also use mine for endless Teams meetings and they are so, so good. I've encouraged two friends to get some as well - I wish I was on commission. One of them loves them for running too.

Thank you

After a bit of research, I got these headphones for running - wireless to my phone, but with a wire between the ear pieces. Only £24 and they don’t fall out when I’m running, and no worries they’ll get lost, because of the wire. Love ‘em!

Oh I like Anker accessories

I bloody love my airpods. Run in them a few times a week, do HIIT classes too and they have never fallen out.

OverByYer · 07/04/2021 07:04

Thanks Sunny have put my order in

I have Belkin ones and they fall out so much I've stopped wearing them. Gone back to over the head ones.

RaggieDolls · 07/04/2021 07:12

Obviously might be different with AirPods though.

I have these and can't recommend them enough - I don't usually use them for running (I mainly use Aftershokz so I can hear what's going on around me) but I do use them for online spin classes and other sweaty things and they stay in fine. I have used them for running and they don't budge at all. And very handy to click them together round your neck if you pop into a shop or do the school run or something after running.
