Foot care

My DD is doing the Clic Sargent walk 500000 steps in March, so averaging 16000 steps per day. Footwear wise she is wearing comfy trainers. Today she has been on a longer walk, 13 miles, and has a couple of small blisters. Given that she will be walking every day, what’s the best way to go, soak and cream feet, or soak and Compeed plasters please?
Thanks!

Does she usually walk much? 13 miles is quite a long walk if her feet aren't used to it and the skin hasn't hardened a bit (gross but true).

Think keeping your feet dry is important for preventing blisters, so not sure about soaking them. Maybe get some proper walking socks and change them mid walk if going on a long one? Also waterproof walking boots if walking off pavement.

Not used a compeed plaster for years, but from what I remember, once they are on they stay on, whether you want them to or not!

Double layer socks.

You can get products to put on the feet that stop skin from rubbing - Body Glide & Compeed both do a version - but double layer socks will prevent blisters like nothing else...

AlrightTreacle no, she doesn’t usually walk that far! The challenge averages out at 16000 steps a day, but given that she is only 14, and although quite active, she’s finding it a challenge so thought a mega stomp would help boost her steps!

LordEmsworth of course, I’d forgotten about body glide! I have some in my festival
kit, thanks! That may help?
But yes, re the socks, she is wearing the double layer sports socks.
