Hi, I'm in desperate need of some walking socks that don't fall down. I'm a size 8. Can anybody please recommend some?

I've always had the tresspass coolmax socks - never had a problem with them.

Bmidreams · 10/01/2021 06:57

Thanks, they only go up to a size 7, same with a lot of them.

I have small feet and muscuar calves. I have to fold the tops of socks over because it is a universal truth that socks rarely stretch halfway up my calves, much less stay there.

I have no recommendations but when I see I thread like this it makes me smile. The active threads are just “everyone is going to die” but then a little gem like this pops up and reminds me that life is as normal ax it ever were 😀

Bridgedale, men’s sizes

FinallyHere · 10/01/2021 11:23

Almost anything in men's sizes.

It makes no sense to me to pay more for women's sizes of things fir things like socks are essentially unisex

Don't get me started on pink box biros.

@BogRollBOGOF I am wearing my asda socks currently and they literally fall down the heel and end up under my foot!!

@Uganytono Grin

Walking is what I have to do to stop the weight gain from excessive eating due to the worry that "everyone is going to die" Grin

Yes, I usually just have men's things, but was worried they might be too big, thus resulting in the rolling down problem!

I like my bridgedale ones, v comfy. But I'm only a size 4.

newyearnewname123 · 10/01/2021 12:07

I hate how loads of women's socks now come in size 4-8. 4-7 fit me fine but 4-8 ones are bigger and fall down like you say. It's like they are trying to avoid creating different sizes.

abstractzebra · 10/01/2021 12:07

I swapped walking socks for support socks.
Up to your knee and always stay up because they grip.
They make your legs feel lovely and light and refreshed.

Rbaby · 10/01/2021 12:10

I find if you put your socks over your trousers they stay up! (I'm a farmer so often have a boiler suit over my trousers so you cant see). Depends if you have long boots or wellies to cover them though. Could work until you get a new brand.

Another vote for Bridgedale!

CaraDuneRedux · 10/01/2021 12:17

Feet currently tucked up and cosy in some Mountain Warehouse merino socks I got for Christmas - they appear not to fall off, even inside my dog-walking wellies.

LemonDrizzles · 10/01/2021 12:35

I've recently found sweat betty to be quite good

It’s really handy for us people with size 8 feet though! I wear men’s waking socks, but ordinary socks in men’s size 8 are usually far too wide.

Well yes, it just feels like they are trying to cover too many sizes with one size, which definitely doesn't fit all.

PippinsOfPogleWood · 10/01/2021 18:55

Bridgedale do a range of sizes, no need to wear men's socks. They don't fall down. Here's one example that you can get in a 7 - 8.5 www.bridgedale.com/710-644-hike-midweight-boot-merino-performance

Bmidreams · 10/01/2021 20:17

Thanks everyone!

These are great too DANISH ENDURANCE Running Socks for Long Distances 3 Pack, for Men & Women, Anti-Blister, Padded, Arch Support, Trainer & Athletic, Sweat Wicking, Breathable smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B082L1MHWN/ref=cmswrcpapifabcOk2-Fb56ZGE9Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I also have feet that eat socks

Like @Rbaby I tuck trousers into my (longer) socks if I'm outside a long time but for pure exercise, I wear the ones above
