Small exercise targets- accountability

Im unfit and very overweight.

I've set myself what should be an achievable target for January.

Run 20 miles TOTAL
10x 2mile runs (which happens to be the approximate distance around the local running path).

I've done the first one total. 29minutes, 5 seconds.

Has anyone else got a small target (for them. No judging.)

That's faster than I can run! I have been making an effort to get out for a walk every day and that is helping, I am really enjoying it!

For what it's worth 20miles in one month is not a small target and your time will improve. Good luck

@buckleten I started walking regularly in the summer, really helped me too

@Peanutbutterblood it feels small when my social media seems to be full of people doing that every weekend. But I know what you mean... It's big for some, little for others.

The only flaw to my plan could be schools closing. I can't run across the fields at night, I'm liable to fall down a rabbit hole!

I did Couch to 5k this year and have been doing a plodding 5k a couple of times a week for a few months. I’d love to work up to a 10k and generally stay motivated with my running.

I think you’re very inspiring @Aroundtheworldin80moves. I did c25k during the first lockdown and, while I can (could) run for 30mins, 5k was a long way off! I stopped running regularly in October due to work / children / weather but I’m determined to get back into it now. I’m going to sign up for my first 5k race in the summer to give myself something to aim for but I need to see how I get on before I do, to make sure I give myself enough time to prepare. In the meantime, I think I’ll join you if that’s ok, and aim for 20 miles this month. Need to work out how to fit the runs in now though!
