Marathon runners - plans for 2021?

Hope you all had a good Xmas and New year. What are you planning to train for given the uncertainty around races?

I have almost a full race calendar rolled over from last year, but who knows whether any of them will go ahead.

I want another HM pb (from my first and last race of 2020) but I do need a race for that as none of my friends can pace me to the time I want due to various lockdown overtraining maladies....

First world problems I know. Would like to know what everyone else is doing, pure nosiness Grin

I've got a target marathon in October. At the moment I'm keeping my base level fitness ticking over at 3 or 4 short to medium runs a week, plus one long run of 13-20 miles (depending on terrain, weather, how much time I have).

I'll then start a marathon-specific training block of 16 weeks in June.

Manchester? I have an entry rolled over for that. Trying not to get my hopes up tbh!

Yep, Manchester. Also a rolled over entry . I have a place for York too, the following week. Hope is I can run 3:30 in one or the other...

Fingers crossed!

I need something to aim for or my training tends to go off the boil. So I'm pretending I have a HM in March and starting the training for that today.

I'm also trying some focused strength training and yoga this time - I've gone really flabby since I've not been able to go climbing and attend yoga. I don't think it helped my pretend marathon in Oct, I definitely lost some oomph and couldn't run the speed I was originally going for in spring.
