Zwift and Turbo Trainer

We are currently looking at home exercise options and online membership options for maximum benefits.

Spin classes look good, but maybe a bit limited.

I'm loving what Zwift has to offer and we already have a racing bike which can be used with a turbo trainer. The virtual rides, competing and racing really appeals to both of us more than a spin class.

My question is, is it worth it to help improve fitness? Weight loss is obviously the main goal, but improving fitness is essential. Does it give you a good workout for weight loss?

Zwift is excellent - there are some structured programmes on there to improve fitness - but imo weight loss is mainly about controlling diet rather than exercise. I run 20-30 miles a week and cycle a couple of days and I've never noticed it affect my weight except for when I make deliberate attempts to eat healthier and cut out alcohol.

I really recommend zwift though, the social side is fantastic.

Thanks for the reply.

The community and virtual rides is what is drawing us to Zwift. We are still investigating Turbo Trainers as we have a budget, but hoping to get it all set up soon.

With the Zwift membership, can you have two profiles on one membership? Both myself and my husband will be using it.

Appreciate this is a slightly old post but wanted to get my dollars in. I absolutely love zwift, the group rides, the racing all keep me thoroughly interested in cycling indoors.

Fitness wise, I have never been fitter but for me a lot of this has been due to having a cycling coach and then tailoring what I am doing on Zwift to the individual I've been prescribed. I have lost 4lbs in four months, more really due to increasing my intensity and volume of cycling rather than dieting.

Regarding the membership, it always frustrates me but you can't get a joint account.
