Any recommendations? The one I reach for most often is a mountain warehouse one, but I don't think it is breathable as once I've warmed up it is too hot - had to strip to sports bra while out yesterday!

One of my fave long sleeved tops is a New Balance one I bought a few years ago, I bought it a size bigger which may defeat the object but it's SUPER comfortable, don't overheat and has the thumb holes which I love on a winter run!

my go to is nike and one warmer one from berghaus

Budget?

My favourite is a 2XU compression baselayer

I've also got a couple from Decathon which are really good (and considerably cheaper.

And for in between weather I really like wearing sleeves (essentially just tubes for each arm) as they're easy to take off when you warm up

Contra have some nice ones. Not very cheap but a very ethical brand.
