Finding a sport for me

I'm early 30s and want to find a sport I love. I've never really done any team sports apart from in pe at school.

I'm quite rural so there aren't really any teams I can join but don't think I could even if it was that straightforward. I don't know the rules of most games!

In my head I like the idea of joining a tennis club or getting into rock climbing but feel a bit ridiculous doing it with zero experience.

I mean I'm ok at swingball Grin but I feel like people join these things when theyre at an intermediate level not complete beginners.

Would I be laughed at rocking up at one of these places? No one I know has the faintest interest in doing this, I couldn't get a pal along to boost my confidence

Have a look to see if there are beginner lessons running at your local tennis club. No one will laugh at you, but will encourage you to join.

Hockey! Lots of clubs have teams for beginners / haven’t done it since school, and it’s a friendly sport.

This is such a simple but perfect suggestion thank you.

Only hockey team round here is quite far away and seem to be quite serious. I never took to it at school but it sounds really fun now, I wish I had!

Climbing ... there are al ways and Absolute beginners, people always happy to show you the ropes. Most areas have a climbing or mountaineering club close by. Are there any climbing walls locally ? They will have beginner sessions and club/open sessions where you will find mates
