What do you wear when running in the rain?

I have been avoiding gyms and now only run outdoors. This is the first year I am planning to do it whether it rains or not. What do people normally wear? I have ski trousers and heavy duty waterproofs, but they make a lot of noise so it's annoying!

Unless it's very cold, I dress normally but make sure that the clothes are close fitting so they don't bunch and cling on. At this time of the year it's still refreshing to be wet.

A cap is great for keeping it out of your eyes.

In cold weather I do have a lighter, wind and shower resistant layer. It doesn't need to be fully waterproof as by that point you'd be soaked with sweat anyway.

I tend to make sure my top half is waterproof but can get away with shorts well into winter. Wet legs feel ok compared to wet leggings running.

I wear a light waterproof jacket over whatever I'd normally wear. Waterproof trousers would be far too hot and sweaty - fine for walking, but not if you're running. TBH, I try to avoid running in winter rain, because it's cold! In the summer, I love running in warm rain as it's very refreshing. A cap can also be good for keeping the rain out of your eyes. I find when it's pouring that it runs down my face and pours into my eyes and that's not great - especially as I wear contact lenses.

Shorts, socks, vest... same as usual! Running in waterproofs is awful; hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. Would much rather be wet.

One exception is obviously very long runs where getting wet and cold could be dangerous; in which case I'll take a very light waterproof for emergencies. So far I've used one once this year, on a 22-mile-trail run in a thunderstorm...

Thanks all. Cap sounds a great idea, and shorts too. Hate the feeling of wet leggings!
