Riding a bike with kids

At what age can you put a child/baby seat on your bike. I have seen some seats that look supportive (DS is 6 months and is fully sitting and crawling so fairly strong) however at this age I’m assuming they don’t do helmets light or small enough for them. What age did you all start to use these seats and could you possibly suggest anything you have used please?

I think DS and DD were both around 6 months when they first started going in our bike seat. Maybe a little older, but not much. We bought the smallest helmet from Decathlon and it fitted fine.

@fellrunner85 Do you mind telling me what sort of seat you used. I assume for a 6 month old it would need to be more supportive/padded than some of the basic ones?

I can't remember the brand tbh; we had different ones with DS and then with DD. Might have been Britax?
Both were the ones that go behind you rather than in front, as we found those sturdier and better for balancing.
They were also just the basic seats, no extra padding, but then they were both big babies (99th centile) with good head control.

I had DS1 in a Co-Pilot Taxi from about 8 months. To start with he had to wear a hat under the helmet to help it fit (this was 12 years ago). If they it behind you, your body will protect them from the worst of any weather.
