How long is your walk? Do you know what weather you will have?

Ronnie1234 · 17/09/2020 10:14

It's a week Sunday so don't know weather yet
Just preparing in case I need to buy items

I'd suggest layers, a lightweight rucksack, well broken in walking boots (unless road walking, then excellent trainers and socks). Decathlon does good walking trousers, I like ones with lots of pockets for easy access to phone, keys etc. In fact you should be able to get very well decked out by Decathlon full stop.

@EmmaStone thank you
Decathlon looks like the place to get everything!

There are some really good youtube videos on how to layer for long walks with thin breathable layers. After enjoying two weeks walking in the Lakes and North Pennines with the teens this summer we're just upgrading from our 20 year old heavy Berghaus fleeces and waterproof coats to thin packable layers. I invested in some walking leggings from Montane. If you enjoy the walking I think it's worth investing in some decent gear as it will last you years.
